Whispers and Laughter [Logicality] (Autism Awareness AU) (Elderly AU)

This was my first prompt for the swap with Pengi11! I am actually doing a monologue of a character struggling with autism for a theater major grade so I want to spread awareness, positivity, and acceptance for those who deal with autism.

All of y'all fight every day and deserve to be proud of yourselves for growing and learning at your own pace despite what you were born with. Y'all are heroes.

STORYTIME!

Logan has lived with Autism his entire life. It wasn't unmanageable, but it certainly made life a great amount more difficult. For example: He physically cannot be in places with loud noises. He has an auditory sensitivity. He physically cannot be in spades where it is loud. His head will figuratively split and he will start screaming, rushing to find a quiet place. He will start shaking and he will feel sharp, needle like pains in his fingertips. It isn't absolutely dreadful, so he always hides in places that are always quiet. Like the library.

Thinking back on it, that's where he met his husband wasn't it? Yes, this is where he met Patton. Logan rocked slightly in his chair, fondly looking at the sapphire ring on his right ring finger and the diamond on his left. Logan remembered that day. Logan was shaking and ran into the Library after his class got too crazy with kazoot, his teacher following him and screaming at him. Logan was screaming back, literally telling her to shut up despite his respect for authority.

Patton was also in there, and he saw everything. He saved him from that teacher who didn't understand, and then he tried to understand. What exactly did he do? He asked the teacher for some help on a nonexistant math problem to get her to go away, giving Logan time to hide in a hiding spot he had never been found in. The teacher gave up and stormed away. Patton found Logan, and they talked. They just talked together and he whispered. He made sure to be quiet for Logan, even though he didn't have to whisper to be tolerable. That's when Logan fell in love.

"Hey Logan, are you okay in there?"

Patton as an old wrinkly man peered around the corner, keeping his voice low for the love of his life. Logan looked up from his pandering to see his husband that he believed he didn't deserve smiling at him. Logan struggled to stand up from his chair, his arms fatigued from growing so old and living so long. He shuffled over to Patton, who waited for him. He knew how stubborn Logan could be whenever he wanted to do something, and this something happened to be walking towards him.

"Patton, I love you."

"I love you too, and I always will. Hey, why don't we go visit some of the old photo albums we have? I want to send some time with you."

Patton took Logan's hand in his, despite his hands being a lot smaller than his. They both had cold, old people hands. In just the other room where the couch and the television is there is a bookshelf full of family photo albums from their past and their future. The two grandfathers sat down slowly in front of the book shelf, taking a book from their golden years off and opened it. Patton was a photography student, so he took photographs of everything. He even taught Logan how to take a few and had some strangers take a few.

Logan looked at all the pictures littered with stickers and glitter. Patton had always adored scrapbooking. It was another cute thing about him. Every page had a different event and day. There's a theme for each page. Like the first page was the library and a school setting right when they first became friends. Patton's mom took a million pictures and Logan remembered his Dad being so happy that he finally made a friend. It probably made him feel accomplished in life as a single father.

Patton flipped through the pages slowly, looking up at every page trying to see Logan make a reaction. He was working on it. Logan was never emotionally expressive, but ever since he met Patton he wasn't emotionally absent any more. Patton stopped when they got to the high school  prom. They went for the first photos of going there and one of them there drinking punch, but it got too loud so Logan had to leave. Patton got him out before he started screaming and hurting. They went to Logan's house and had their own prom. Logan smiled and Patton kernel out some soft laughter, which broke Logan's focus.

"You're so adorable, Logan. Even today. I am so glad I fell in love with you."

Logan's heart felt warm. Patton flipped to the last page: their wedding day. Actually the last two pages. It was a very special day so Patton made it a two parter in their relationship album. Logan traced his wrinkly finger over the page, stopping when he got to his husband's chest. He looked at his young boyish face that was smiling brighter than the sun adorned with glasses. That was Logan's absolute favorite day in his life. Patton giggled again. The two were interrupted by a quiet knock on the door. Patton stopped himself from calling out to the person and being lazy. Logan stood up so he didn't have to and he slowly waddled his way to the door, opening it to see his eldest daughter there with her family.

"Papa, hello. I'm sorry for not giving you a heads up, but we just really wanted to see you and Daddy to make sure you're okay. I brought Kellam with me."

Logan opened the door a little bit more to see a well behaved shy toddler at her leg, hiding behind his mother. Logan remembered that his precious daughter Florina had a child with Hector. She was in a healthy polyamorous relationship with a woman named Lyn and a man named Hector. She is very happy. This was the relationship's first child. Florina beamed with a timid pride as the Young boy walked out in front, minding his manners and extending his hand.

"Hello Grandpop. I'm Kellam. Am I quiet enough?"

Logan lightly chuckled, Patton slowly walking up behind him hugging the photo album to his chest. The little boy had dark hair, the opposite of Florina's Light blonde natural color. It must be from the father. He did have her brown eyes and round face though. He was such a charming little boy. Logan already loved him.

"Of course you are, Kellam. You are doing such a wonderful job. It is very nice to meet you too, isn't it? Am I Grandpop? What a pleasant name."

Logan was smiling. Whispers and laughter filled the tiny house the two old men lived in, their daughter and grandson visiting them. They looked through photographs, played wii sports, played a bunch of card games, and got caught up with Florina's life. This was then life Logan was lucky to have. He was so happy.

I am really sad now, I can't write anything cool. I can't seem to write anything long. I mean I   Can't get over my new quota of 1500 Words And my writing is so bland now. I can't give vivid imagery or have explicit ideas. I can only think of a topic that's needs more representation and make something extremely mundane. Y'all deserve so much better.

As for the advice: surround yourself with people who embrace you for who you are. Stay away from people who belittle you and make you uncomfortable. You deserve to be happy and in healthy relationships. Find people to shared the whispers and the laughter with. Find people who embrace every part of you. Your flaws are a part of you that shouldn't be hidden or be ashamed of, so make sure the people you are around embrace that part of you as well as the rest of you.
