S3E20 "ECHO HOUSE"

a/n: in comparison to other episodes, this one will be brief in my writing style. that's simply the nature of this episode, and you can expect to see more from upcoming episodes. but not the immediate next one. sorry!

The episode begins with the sheriff dropping Stiles off at Eichen House, hoping his son will benefit from some psychiatric help. As father and son stand at the gates, Scott rides up on his motorbike, with Noel riding along as well. They both step off the bike, Scott asking "Why didn't you tell us?"

"Because we wanted to avoid something like this," the sheriff admits, as Stiles assures them that it's just gonna be a 72 hour stay.

"Stiles, this is the place that Barrow came from," Noel says pleadingly, Scott agreeing "Yeah, the same guy who had a tumor inside him filled with flies." He then turns to the sheriff, insisting "You don't know everything yet."

"I know enough," the sheriff argues, listing "Nogitsunes, kitsunes, oni or whatever they're called."

"No, that's actually all surprisingly correct," Stiles compliments, as the sheriff tells Scott that Stiles' MRI looked exactly like his late wife's and that that terrifies him. He then reveals that he'll be going to Los Angeles the following day to consult a specialist, and Noel asks "So why are you leaving Stiles here? Take him to mine and Lydia's, he'll be just as safe there, maybe even safer."

"He's not leaving me here," Stiles says, admitting "It's my decision."

"We can't help you if you're in here," Scott reminds him, as Stiles points out "And I can't hurt you."

Scott continues to try and convince him, saying "Deaton's got some ideas, Argent's calling people. We're gonna find something, and if we can't..." He trails off, Stiles supplying "If you can't, then you guys have to do something for me, okay? Make sure I never get out."

Scott and Noel watch in silent shock as the sheriff and Stiles enter the gate, and then they look at each other. After a few beats, Scott says softly "We have to find something."

Trying to be comforting, Noel pats Scott's shoulder, assuring him "I know. We will." as we enter Eichen House.

After Stiles' check-in scene, the credits roll.

When we come back, it's to Chris Argent still in custody and speaking over the phone while Deaton, Scott, Allison, and Noel are at the clinic. He is present but doesn't speak, so in summary, Deaton has found a lead in the form of an ancient Japanese artifact called a Shugendō scroll that holds the directions to exorcise a nogitsune. The scroll was last in the hands of a man named Kincaid, and Allison thinks she may know where to find the scroll.

For the sake of brevity and focus on Noel, unless what is said mentions or affects him, most scenes at Eichen House will not be included in this chapter. Please watch the episode itself for plot details.

When Stiles finally sees Malia face to face, his line changes to "Hey, I'm Stiles. Do you remember me? I'm friends with Scott and Noel, we were the ones who helped you out with-"

She then punches him.

The next scene after the commercial is between Argent and Derek. Argent asks him if he can hear anything, and Derek tries to listen to something happening on the other side of the station. After a moment he tells Argent that he was right, and that all evidence that wasn't blown up is being moved. He them relays that all of Katashi's belongings are going into federal lockup.

"Has Noel heard any new details since we last saw him?" Argent asks, Derek frowning and saying "They denied me a phone call, so even if he had, it's not like he could tell me. And with the sheriff out for the day, they're not gonna allow us any visitors."

Argent doesn't seem too thrilled, but he at least looks understanding, as Derek continues to talk to him. Their conversation strays to berserkers, and ends with Argent admitting that while it would hurt him to kill Stiles, he'd feel no remorse killing a nogitsune.

After some Eichen House scenes, Scott, Noel, and the twins arrive at Allison's house. Allison says that her dad told her all the Katashi evidence was being locked up, and Noel asks as a throwaway joke "They're giving your dad all these free phone calls? Why aren't they giving Derek any phone calls..."

Allison looks sympathetic before walking over to Lydia and explaining that the evidence will be in an armored car on the way to be locked up within the next few hours.

"We're gonna rob an armored car?" Ethan asks, and Lydia corrects "Well... We're gonna try."

Another Eichen House scene, and Scott says "This is a really bad plan."

"It's not that bad," Lydia argues, and Ethan says "It's not that good."

Lydia points out that they don't know what route the car is going to take, and that it would be easy to follow it if Allison can get one of her dad's trackers somewhere on it. Allison points to a spot on the map, about to say something about a location when Aiden interjects "[When they get there] we attack them."

Lydia corrects that they'll put their bikes there to look like an accident, after which they'll distract the driver while Scott breaks into the back door.

"So wait, Ethan and Aiden are gonna crash their bikes to look like an accident?" Noel asks to clarify, and when no one argues, he says "What are the odds that a set of identical twin high schoolers are riding their bikes, not going to the same place, and they happen to meet on this random bridge and cause a traffic-stopping collision?"

Lydia seems surprised she didn't think of that, as Allison says "Fine. Scott and Ethan will be the collision, Lydia and I will be the distraction-"

"And I'll do the attacking," Aiden says, which is met with twin shouts of 'no!' from Allison and Lydia. Allison then continues "Aiden will keep watch, and Noel will break in."

"Me? No way, I'm not going to jail for stealing a murdered man's prosthetic, I don't have the gumption," Noel says instantly with a shake of his head, and Scott offers optimistically "If you get caught, you'd at least be with Derek."

"Not helping," Lydia says warningly, as Allison assures them "Guys, this is gonna work, we can do this. We're losing Stiles, and my dad is in jail for murder, we need to do this."

Eichen House scene, into an Argent scene, where after being told his lawyer would be there, he instead sees Araya Calavera, the woman who tortured Peter and Derek in the 3b premiere.

Eichen House scene, and then Kira arrives at Scott's house offering to help them with their mission and showing off her newfound sword wielding skills. Scott agrees to let her come, and then we get another Eichen House scene.

The plan to get Katashi's finger goes into action with Kira placing the GPS tracker, but Parrish comes out and sees the driver already incapacitated. A man then knocks Parrish out and emerges from the van, and Allison identifies him as Kincaid.

After a scene between Argent and Araya, we see Kincaid holding Katashi's finger. Scott casually walks up and says they need it, and Allison is right beside him with her crossbow drawn. Kincaid laughs, asking why he should give it to them, and Allison tells him about the briefcase holding $150k. She implies that he's free to take that instead.

Kincaid seems amused, telling them that the scroll inside the finger is worth $3m. Scott is done playing games, saying sternly "Give me the finger." He pauses, realizing what he said, thinking about it before adding "You know what I mean."

Kira then jumps down from the top of the van and onto Kincaid, who easily shakes her off and shows off his blue eyes and fangs as he roars.

After an Eichen House scene, we get a classic wolf fight between Scott and Kincaid, featuring Kira and Allison. Kincaid is a worthy opponent though, barely budging and telling Scott "You have the eyes of an alpha, but where's the strength?"

"That would be up here," Noel calls out from up above, waving cheerfully and watching the twins like a proud parent as they both roar and launch into the fight. As the twins fight Kincaid, Noel runs over to Allison and Lydia, standing between the girls and the fight with his eyes shining gold.

After a... Sex scene... In a mental hospital... Scott tells the twins to stop after they've successfully overpowered Kincaid. Aiden asks if they want Kincaid coming after them, and Ethan agrees that they've met guys like Kincaid, and they're all dangerous.

"So are we," Scott says as Noel comes to stand beside him, "he looks smart enough to remember that."

Scott takes the finger from Kincaid and takes out the scroll as he tells the twins "We're here to save a life, not end one."

Stiles gets taken over by the nogitsune again to save Malia, reforming Void as Deaton reads what's on the scroll. He says there isn't much there, and Noel asks "Does 'not much' mean nothing? Or is there something there we can use?"

Deaton explains that the scroll suggests changing the body of the host, and Scott and Noel are left to wonder how they could change Stiles' body. Scott finds an answer first, offering "By turning him into a werewolf."

Noel is not seen or heard again in the episode.
