Untrustworthy

Abby's POV

I snorted.

Parker kept on screaming, his voice high pitched like a woman. I kept my hands to my ears, trying to block his loud voice.

"Man, that's loud" Dave complained, his eyes narrowed at the screaming Parker. I chuckled softly, earning a side ways glance from Dave.

Charles groaned, walking to Parker and shaking him furiously. "Shut the fuck up Parker!"

Parker stopped, his eyes still wide as he glanced at Dave. "Aren't you guys scared? I mean no one can survive a bomb explos- "

My eyes narrowed, glaring at Parker as Charles elbowed him on the stomach. I was panicking, sweat visible on my forehead. Does Dave remember what happened three years ago?

Dave furrowed his brows, staring at us with curious eyes. "What?"

Charles cursed silently, his gaze averted to the side as he tried to avoid Dave's hard gaze.

Dave turned to Parker, his eyes a blaze as he asked loudly. "What were you about to say?"

Parker glanced at Charles, who was glaring at him when Dave wouldn't notice. He clutched his stomach, remembering the painful hit that Charles has given him.

Then his eyes landed on me, like he was waiting for my permission. I slowly shook my head, pleading him not to say anything through my stare.

Parker awkwardly laughed, his voice shook as he spoke. "I just remembered a part from a movie I watched before, really good acting. The main character got caught in a bomb and miraculously he lived afterwards, and I must've mistaken you for him because you both look alike"

Dave's stare was scrutinizing, his eyes were intently on Parker. He wasn't moving, and Parker held his stare awkwardly.

I cleared my throat, stealing all their attention. "I have the document you wanted me to re type Dave. I'm sure you came by here because you need that right?"

He blinked, focusing his attention to me instead of Parker. He seemed to be lost in thought as he looked at me, his stare felt like he'd seen my very soul. I always felt this spark when he stared at me like that, his dark eyes staring intently at my blue ones as it set my soul on fire.

"Yeah, sure" He breathed, his chest rising heavily like he lost his breath. I took the flash drive from my desk, careful not to let the small object slip from my hand. I handed it to him, smiling warmly as I felt his hand against my skin.

Parker glanced at me, a confused look on his face as he looked at the both of us.

"You're working here again?"

I bit my lip, my hands shaking before I spoke. "Yes, I thought you already knew?"

He shook his head, clearly disagreeing with me. " Can we talk for a minute? Outside?"

I nodded, guilt slowly fading away from my fluttering stomach. He was finally getting answers, the truth from me. I can already imagine the look on his face when I tell him everything.

He took me by the arm, tugging me gently and tilting his head to the door. I awkwardly glanced at Dave and Charles, both nodding in response.

I was pulled by Parker, blurring my vision as I blinked. He closed the door behind him, pacing back and forth as I stared at him silently.

" Start with how you found him? Most importantly how he's still alive" He glared at me, eyes narrowed in confusion and anger. I parted my lips to speak, only to be interrupted by Parkers sudden voice.

"I can't believe it, he really is alive. How is that possible? How can hen survive such a catastrophe? Does he even remember how he got almost killed in the first pla- "

"Stop, just stop..." I snapped, my cheeks burning as I stared at him. His lips formed a thin line as he stared at me, not speaking till I tell him so.

I sighed, playing with my fingers as I looked down on the ground. "He's having a hard time right now, confused and vulnerable to his father."

Parker turned sharply, the action so quick I thought his neck broke. "His father? But why does Dave believe him? I thought he was mad at him because he caused every problem you and Dave had? Why would he still trust him?"

"He doesn't remember me Parker, he doesn't know what's really happened to him. All he knows is that he almost lost his life and his father saved him" My eyes stung, the mere thought made tears blur my vision.

Parker hugged me, his large hands trapping my small figure. I collapsed in his arms, sniffling as tears ran down to my cheeks.

" How can that bastard do this to you? He knew that Dave had feelings for you, but why does it feel like he wants to completely remove you from Dave's life?"

"I don't know Parker, but thinking about it hurts" I choked out, my voice trembling as I spoke. He kept stroking my hair, telling me that everything was going to be okay.

Even if he said those words, I knew deep inside that things won't turn out fine in the end.

I pulled away, wiping the tears that still threatened to fall. I smiled at him, thanking him silently for the comfort and company. He smiled back, patting my head and ruffling it to a mess.

"How about we return inside? We left the two in a hurry, so I don't really know if they're handling things well inside there" He pointed to the door, a sly smile rising from his lips as I slapped him in the shoulder.

Parker hugged me by the shoulder, his warm hand around my cold body. I turned to my side and looked up at him, smiling and sticking my tongue out.

He returned the gesture and pinched my cheeks, pain shooting from the side of my face. "That hurts so bad" I rubbed on the sore spot, hearing Parker laughing beside mas his chest vibrated.

"I can't help it, you're so cute and adorable"

As we laughed and came in closer to the door, I heard faint shouting. I stopped in my tracks, forcing Parker to drag beside me. He groaned at first, suddenly stopping after a few seconds and remained silent. We both stayed quiet and tried to comprehend if what we were hearing was true.

I was growing nauseous, my stomach fluttering and twisting in anxiety. Why were we standing here and not stopping whatever it was supposed to happen in there?

The bickering stopped, silence coming from the men inside the room. Relief flooded in me, if they were finally acting like adults, but my thoughts were cut off as soon as I heard knuckled colliding with flesh.

I stumbled forward and pushed the door open, only to be greeted by Dave pinning Charles to the floor and punching the daylights out of him. Parker finally came to my side, his body tensing as he saw them fighting in front of him.

I nudged him hard on the elbow, a sign for him to stop the two men. He jerked and abruptly pulled Dave away from Charles. He was bleeding profusely, his lips were swollen and had a cut on the edge, his eye had a purplish tint while his cheek was swollen.

Dave tried to pull away from Parker, who was struggling to hold him still. His eyes were a blaze with anger, his dark eyes now like the pitch-black sky.

I rushed to Charles, clutching his hand tightly and shaking him gently. He was groaning in pain, his other hand holding mine while the other rested on his stomach.

I glared at Dave, my blood felt hot and consumed in anger. "What the hell is your problem?"

He pointed a finger at Charles, his eyes meeting mine. I tried not to cower in terror, his eyes were staring at mine with such intensity I couldn't take. "Stay away from him Abby, he won't do you any good."

I scoffed. "Like you were any better"

I was expecting a glare, instead his eyes met mine for a moment, barely passing as a glance but was enough to make my heart flutter. He shrugged off from Parkers hands, narrowing his eyes at him.

He took one last look at Charles, his face in disgust as he watched him on the floor. His eyes stayed with mine until he was finally out of sight and out of the room.

I breathed out the air I didn't know I was holding before finally turning to Parker, who was staring at me uncomfortably.

"Well that was scary as fuck"
