Kong's POV

I slowly walked over to the dog and squat down in front of it.. I put both my hands forward.. I slowly tried to touch the dog but it barked.. I stopped my hand movement but did not retard it.

"Nong.. if it bites.. I won't take the responsibility.. " The shopkeeper shouted.. 
"Kong.. you will get yourself bitten." Em warned me.. I played deaf and looked into it's eyes.. Then slowly moved my hand and touched the dog.. I patted the dogs head and then ran my fingers through it hair.. 

The dog immediately barked as it came close to me.. I hugged it as it came to me.. It started licking me.. making me laugh.. 
"Enough.. enough.." I stopped it from licking me.. and played with it.. 
"How did you do that.?" The shopkeeper asked.
"It was just aggressive.. so if we want to calm it down.. first make it trust that you won't harm it.. and then approach.." I replied.. 

"Let me help you to put the dog back in it's place." I said.. The shopkeeper nodded.. both of us put the dog back in it's place.. The dogs name was Milo.. it was a cute name.. After that we went back to where Em and Tew were.. 

"You were great.. where did you learn it.?" Tew asked me.
"I am an animal lover.. but since I can't take care of one.. I use my free time to look after the stray dogs or cats.. that was how I learned." I replied. They smiled at me.. 

"Sir.. can we talk now.?" I asked the shopkeeper. 
"I am sorry for lashing out. I was worried about them. And please sit down.. we will talk." He said. 

We sat down in the sofa.. the previous cat which fought with the dog came near my legs and started meowing.. I took it into my hands.. 
"Hey there.. why were you fighting.." I asked.. It again meowed.. 
"It's name is Pluto.. The previous cats which were lost are also of the same breed 'sphynx'.. this is the only one which was here.." The shopkeeper said.

"Can you tell us what exactly happened.?" Em asked. He also took out his book to take down points while I just started recording whatever he was saying in my mobile. Tew and Em did not notice it though.. the cat sat on my shoulder as I started listening to the person..

"Sphynx breed is really rare and expensive.. I have bought around 20 cats of this breed because the people in this locality liked that breed.. most of the people who wanted a pet as cat wanted to have one of this breed.. so seeing that.. I bought them here." The shopkeeper said.. and stopped for few seconds.

"It was 5 days back I bought them.. I made every arrangement.. for them to stay.. but 2 days back.. I came here in the morning.. and found all the sphynx breed cats missing except this little one.. at first I did not know it was there.. but when I was searching for the cats.. it was sleeping with other breed cats.. and was practically not visible unless we move those cats.." He said.

"Sir.. got anything in the CCTV cameras..?" Tew asked.
"No.. they destroyed all of them.. in this lane.. the police even checked the surrounding cameras with are at the endings of this locality but there was nothing they could suspect of. They did search for vehicles also in which the pets can be taken.. but they found nothing to suspect." He replied. 
"Thank you sir.. we will meet again.. and I hope you will co-operate with us.. if in case we come up with an idea.." Em said.. We stood up to leave. 

I gave back Pluto to the shopkeeper and went along with them.. we went to one isolated area and sat down.. 
"Now what..? No leads.." Em said.
"We do have a few.." I said.. Both Tew and Em were looking at me with questioning eyes..
"First.. they can't take 20 cats in a small car.. it would need a little bigger one.. which would be covered.. second.. according to shopkeeper police said that there was no vehicle the could suspect on.. that means they are still in this locality.. third.. by now they must have at least 30-40 cats.. and if at all they are alive.. they will need to buy a huge amount of food for them.. we can go to the supermarkets and check their cameras." I said.

"That's was great Kong. Then what shall we do first.?" Tew asked.
"Can you find out how many isolated or closed buildings are there.. because if they are in this locality.. they can't keep them at home.. the neighbors will know.. so they will need a isolated and closed areas.. like abandoned factory or houses.. something like that." I said..
"I can do that.. I will get it done within a couple of hours.." Tew said.
"Then how about we both go to various supermarkets..?" Em asked.
"Yup that will be good... there are many shops and supermarkets where cat food is available.. so we can go on alternate ones." I suggested.. 

"Then Em.. I will take the car and go to the office.. I will collect the blue print for this area and search.. will it be okay.?" Tew asked.
"Kong.. you are okay with driving doubles on your bike right." Em asked.
"Yes.. I am okay.." I replied.
"Then.. Tew.. go ahead.. here are the keys.." Em said as he gave the keys to him.. 

We split from there.. I and Em.. opened GPS where we can know about the shops which sell cat food. There were many.. we started with the nearest one.. Em did all the speaking while I was just observing around and if there are any cameras we would see the recording.. 

We went to around 5 shops till now.. but there wasn't any use.. we decided to stop for few minutes.. I bought a iced coffee for both of us.. 
"Thanks Kong.." Em said as I gave him the drink.
"It's okay.." I said and sat beside him.
"Who was that girl.?" He asked me suddenly..
"What girl..?" I asked back.
"The one you hid from.. when we came to the pet shop.. ex-girlfriend.?" He asked me.. 

I did not expect him to notice it.. and I did not know how to answer it.. 
"It's okay.. everyone has some or the other past.." He said seeing my silence.
"We were friends.. and there was no romantic feelings.. it is just that.. after something happened.. I cut ties with all of them.. and 1yr.. I haven't even see them.. I did not want to talk now.. I haven't spoke to them all the year nor shown up myself.. I know I will have to explain things.. but I am not ready nor interested as of now." I said.
"Oh.. If you want to talk about it.. I am here." He said. I just smiled..
"Thank you.. did Tew also see.?" I asked him.
"Na.. and this partial secret is safe with me don't worry." He said and patted my shoulder. 

We drank our coffee and then continued with our work.. we went to another 3 shops.. but we did not find anything worth suspecting.. 
"Kong.. I am hungry.. let us eat na.. then we will continue.." Em said as we walked out of the current shop.. 
"Okay.. should we go back to the office.?" I asked him not sure of where to eat.. 
"We can have here..  we have a lot more shops to check.. this would be easy." He said. I nodded my head.. We went to the nearby restaurant and ordered our food.

"Em.. is captain always that angry.?" I asked him.
"Ah..? No.. P'Arthit is very kind and warm.." He said.
"Then in the morning.. why was he like that..?" I asked again..
"Even I don't know Kong.. he is short tempered but not angry type person.. maybe something happened while coming.." He said. We spoke about random thing.. Em told about how they spend time outside office.

"Kong.. where do your parents stay..?" He asked suddenly. I froze.. it's been 4-5 yrs since I have spoke to them.. I used to watch them every now and then from far away.. Also my sister Fang shows me their pics and tells me about them every time we meet.
"I am sorry.." Em said bringing me back to reality.. 
"There is nothing to be sorry about.. They stay here itself.. it is just that I am not in contact with them." I said.
"Can I ask why.?" He asked me with uncertainty.
"I had a boyfriend in past.. they did not accept it.. and asked me to leave.. I could not change my choice.. so I chose to leave.. " I said.
"So.. you are a.." Em said slowly.
"No.. not gay but a bi.." I replied.

"I hope they will come around.. by the way.. who is your boyfriend." He asked me.
"As of now.. no one.. It ended." I said after a little silence.. The flashes of P'Nat and Stud when I caught them cheating on me came into my mind. I closed my eyes for few seconds to control myself.

"I am sorry Kong.. I guess I have asked a lot." Em said with a guilty feeling.
"It's Okay Em.. there is nothing to be sorry for.. I am over it.. just don't tell anyone at the office.. " I said.
"You have my word Kong.. I will not even let a word out.. And I will be your new friend and best friend." He said smiling happily.. I could not help but return the smile.

"Now let us go and continue the work.. otherwise P'Arthit will snap our heads.. he is really strict when it comes to work." Em said. We completed eating and then went back to checking the shops..

So.. will Kong be able to find the animals..? 

Will P'Arthit recognize Kong..? Or at least accept Kong as his team member after the case.?
