Flash Forward---Bittersweet, angst, sad end

((TW: death))

Newt stared at Minho.

No, no, Minho was not supposed to knock the gun from Thomas's hand

No, no, the gun wasn't supposed to fall to the ground, of the torn street, firing.

No, no, it wasn't supposed to hit Minho.

"Min? Minho?"

Minho's eyes were unseeing, blank. His voice was wobbly, unstable, almost dreamy

"N- Newt?"

Newt was crying. A mixture of relief, happiness, sadness, and longing. Minho wasn't dead yet. Thank shuck. Newt spoke quietly, softly, almost begging, as he knelt next to Minho.

"D- Don't worry, Minho-"

Newt choked back a sob.

"We're going to get back to the compound, we're-"

Newt bit his lip trying to keep the dam that held back the tears in place.

"We're- you're going to be okay, okay?"

Minho looked heartbroken

"I-"

Newt interrupted him.

"No, no don't say you won't make it back, don't!"

Minho looked like he wanted to hide, bury himself, run. Newt sobbed, not even bothering to hold it back.

"D-. . .Don't. Don't! Minho, don't!"

Minho sighed, but lovingly. Like 'oh little kids are so innocent, so stubborn, so unknowing' sigh. Like that.

"Newt. . ."

Newt's face was covered in tears and lit from the sparks and blinking crashed car's headlights.

"No, no, Min, don't say it! Please, please don't say it, please!"

Minho just looked at Newt. Newt scrubbed his eyes once, with the back of his palm.

"Minho, please. . .you know it'll break me, you know it."

Minho nodded, ever so slightly.

"I do."

Newt flashed back- or maybe forward- to what he and Minho had planned. How they had planned to get a house, maybe a dog or two, a house with lots of light, with Alby, Chuck, Teresa, and Thomas living in the same neighborhood. Well. Chuck and Alby would never make it. Newt didn't know about Thomas and Teresa.

Flash forward. Flash forward. Flash forward, flash forward to the life they were supposed to have. Flash forward to their wedding, or what Newt had hoped would eventually be their wedding.

Flash forward to the wedding. The wedding Newt had known, hoped, dreamed would happen. He knew if they ever got back to a normal world, it would happen. He knew. Minho knew too.

Flash forward. Flash forward to the wedding. "Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Newt would say "I do." Minho would smile as the man turned to him. "Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Minho would grin at Newt, his eyes lighting up. He would say "I do."

Flash forward. Flash forward for the moment Newt had hoped for forever. The man would say "You may now kiss your husband." And Minho would smile softly as he cupped Newt's face in his hands, and Newt would wrap his arms around Minho, and then they would kiss, and then they would be together forever.

Flash forward. Flash forward for after the wedding. Minho would be carrying Newt in his arms, both of them radiant. Both of them happy. Minho would take Newt onto the dance floor, spinning Newt round and round and round, before bringing him in for a kiss. The wedding rings would glitter on their fingers, as they spun and spun around together, both happy as can be.

Flash forward to their house. They would get a small apartment, that was most likely. Newt would find it, Minho would be like a giddy child on Christmas morning, opening the door the first time. Flash forward to when Minho would break the 'no pets' rule, and smuggled in a small puppy under his coat, because he had known that Newt wanted one. They would name the dog something cute or funny, like 'Bark'.

Flash forward. Flash forward to all the holidays they were supposed to spend together. Christmas, exchanging gifts with friends, and Newt knew Minho would hang mistletoe around the apartment, just so that Minho could surprise Newt when he accidently stepped under it. New years eve, where they would wait together for midnight, chugging coffee to stay awake. Halloween, where they would watch the small children outside, and realize they had an aching hole in their hearts.

Flash forward. Flash forward to when they would adopt a small baby girl. Flash forward to when they would name her 'Lizzy' or 'Sonya' after Newt's sister.

Flash forward. Flash forward to when Minho would hold the small girl in his arms for the first time, and his face would melt, as he made funny faces for her.

Flash forward. Flash forward to the next halloween, where they would take the young girl outside, in her fairy costume, watching her toddle up to the door bells, her small voice singing 'trick or treat!'

Flash forward. Flash forward to sending her to kindergarten, where Minho would watch his baby girl go off to school, and pretend he just had dirt in his eye.

Flash forward. Flash forward to when Newt would sit out at the kitchen table, stressed, sad, missing the others who had died. Flash forward to when Minho would find him, and pull him into a hug, before pulling him up, kissing him, before putting on their wedding song, and dancing with Newt in the fridge light.

Flash forward. Flash forward to when the noise would wake their child, and she would come out, and she would dance with them too, and where Newt would scoop her up into his arms, and they would be happy.

Flash forward. Flash forward. Flash forward.

I do.

That's what Minho had said.

He had said I do.

He was supposed to say that, but at their wedding, on the hard street, as the life drained from him.

Flash forward. Flash forward. Flash forward.
