interview #4 A chat with @MDGary

1. When do you begin your writing routine? (morning, afternoon, day, evening)

I liked to write in the evening usually. I don't know, it's when I feel the most creative.

2. What do you need for your writing routine? (laptop, notebook, ect)

This may sound crazy, but I generally like writing on my phone. Sometimes I use headphones but I'm able to tune out my surroundings without them.

3. What is your main focus, when you're working on a story?

My main focus is making sure that I'm developing my characters in a way that's actually progressing the story.

4. What is something important you've come to learn, since you've begun writing?

Something important I've learned is simply writing for me. Before, a couple of years ago, I was so worried about views/votes, people commenting etc, but that's not the point. The point is if you like you what you're doing then do it for yourself. That was a very important lesson and has strengthened my writing overall.

5. Do you believe having some sort of writing routine is helpful?

Personally, I don't have a specific writing routine but I don't think it's important. Especially when you want to get to your end goal. It'll also help keep you motivated when I do keep to my routine.

6. What is a writing strength of yours?

A writing strength of mine I'd say is capturing emotion. That's something important that I feel makes a story a good one.

7. What's is a writing weakness of yours?

A weakness of mine is coming up with blurbs or descriptions. It's never been a strength of mine.

8. Do you ever share your writing outside Wattpad? (other social media platforms, family, friends)

Currently, you can find my works on that I have on Wattpad in inkitt. I have other stories on Anystories as well. I just created an authors page on Facebook as well.

9. What's a good piece of writing advice, when it comes to beginning a new story?

When starting a new story, don't think about whether people will like the idea or not. If it's something you want to right about, you write it.

10. Who is an author you admire and why? (on or outside Wattpad)

This may sound controversial but I don't generally have an author that I admire per se. I will say one of my family members is an author on Wattpad and we grew up writing together. She is definitely my inspiration for keeping up with this passion.

11. Do you believe an author interacting with their readers is important?

I do think authors interacting with readers is important. If your goal is to be a famous published author, or even successful in Wattpad, I think you should definitely interacting with readers as they're the ones that's giving you support to achieve success.

12 How do you believe a writer can build a fanbase?

A writer can build a fan base by being genuine with their readers. Maybe even supporting their supporters work as well. Giving support is definitely the perfect way to get support back.

Why should someone consider reading it?

Someone should consider reading it if they just want to read something very lighthearted and fun. If you want to step back from reality, this is the book for you.

What inspired the overall idea of the story?

I was working on my other book that has dark/depressing themes to it and thought let me write something more light and fluffy. So that's how this story came about.

Is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series?

This is complicated because it's a stand alone but sort of a spin off to another story that I have. That story isn't on Wattpad, but this story can be read without ever having read it.
