Charmaine eyes watered as she starred back at him.  He starred back at her. He was glad they were so close. He had more time to admire her. Kain reached up wiping. the tear that fell. Charmaine jumped back standing to her feet. While Kain laughed.

"I hate you. That's cheating"Charmaine accused him. "Nah I won"
"No when your hand got close to my eyes it was a natural reaction to blink" "oh well you didn't say that in the rules Kain shrugged her off.

"Tiani said she's on her way now"Charmaine said looking back at Malani who was in her own world playing with her teddy bears.

"Charmaine"Kain called her. She looked at him rolling her eyes"you are loud for what. I'm right here....six feet away"

"I'm hungry"
"So pick something up on our way to work"
"Why when I can eat eat now"he groaned.Charmaine looked at him weirdly. Malani was behind the couch giggling.

"Lani "Kain called out to her. She stood up and Kain reached over the couch pulling her up as she squealed.
"Kain"she clung to him squashing her cheeks with his.

"Can you watch Moana with me?"she asked.
"Didn't we just watch that in the car?" he asked her.
"We only got to the part when Maui locked Moana in his cave"
Kain couldn't turn down Malani pleading eyes.

"When?"
"Now!"she hugged him tighter
"We leaving soon"
"So"she shrugged her shoulders. Kain nodded his head putting Malani down. The small pitter patters of her feet against the floor could be heard as she ran to put the movie in.

"Charmaine "Kain called out dragging her name. "Kain what do you want? Do you not see i'm busy?"
"Doing what?"
"Watching videos"
"I'm hungry the hell. You suppose to be in there whipping something up"

"Kain what do you want?"
"You know how to make spaghetti"
"Yes"she sighed getting up going to the kitchen.

"Moana, make way make way Moana it's time you knew the village of -"Malani. Soft voice sang

"Baby let him sing. You sit back and watch the movie"Kain said pulling Malani back who was dancing to the song from the movie right in front of him.

Charmaine was in the kitchen seasoning the ground beef for the food. She figured why not get a head start on dinner. 

She seen Kain in-tuned with the movie. He bursted out laughing which make Charmaine stop what she was doing.
"What's so funny?"Charmaine asked.

"That lil n- that lil boy dancin'"
Charmaine knew what he was talking about. She watches the movie often.

"Oh yea that was cute"
"Everything is cute to you"both Kain and Malani said.
Charmaine face scrunched up then she rolled her eyes.

"Oh be quiet "she waved them off. Not that they were paying her any mind.
She went back in the kitchen doing what she was doing before.

Kain got up from the couch going to the bathroom. Malani sat on the couch paying attention to the movie. Every now and then Charmaine would peek over at her.

There was a knock on the door. "Don't you open that door little girl"Charmaine warned her.
Kain walked down the hall with his phone in hand.

Charmaine unlocked the door seeing it was no other than her creepy landlord.
"Charmaine. You wouldn't mind me coming in?"he said trying to get by but she stopped him. "Actually I do" "just a little talk you know"he looked at charmaine outfit before winking. Kain laughed to his self.

Kain came around the corner opening the door to make his self seen. He wrapped one arm around Charmaine lower back putting his head in the crook of her neck.

He made it seem as if the two were together. Charmaine picked up on what he was doing and she wrapped her arms around his torso. "Who is this?"Kain looked up at the guy as if he was crazy

"Excuse you"
"Only her name is on the lease"
"And? "
"You can't be here" Kain placed his lips on the back of Charmaine neck making her body tense up. That was something she least expected.

"You got to go. This apartment isn't for small family's their for individuals "

"How you know if I live here? Mind your damn business"Kain shut the door in his face. Charmaine was still stuck.
"Only sayin this cause you look nervous as hell. Sorry if I-"

"It's fine. Thank you for getting rid of him. He came by here earlier talking about he was worried cause I didn't answer the door so he was about to let himself in"

"What?"Kain said. He heard her but he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"I know"she walked back to the kitchen and Malani turned back around in her seat.

"I wish I could be the perfect daughter...but I come back to the water no matter how hard I try"Malani began to sing. Kain let her be great this time. She leaped and jumped around full of energy.

Kain mind drifted back to the way Charmaine tensed up when he kissed her neck. It was nothing deep. Maybe just a small peck. Kain lowkey was starting to feel Charmaine. She always made him laugh and she was nothing but good vibes. Kain found himself stopping by for ridiculous reasons. He just wanted to check up on her but he wouldn't tell her that. Over the last three months Charmaine grew on him and vice versa. How ever he stuck to his word about messing with those who he work with.

Charmine didn't know how to feel. Kain treated her nice which made her attached to him,he was good looking and funny. He always kept a smile on her face. In the back of her mind griff would pop up cause that's exactly how he seemed at first.

She doubted Kain had a loose screw but you could never be sure of that.

Tianai came threw the front door huffing. She sat her bag down then plopped on the couch. "So many stairs"
"Hey Baby"she touched Malani chin. Malani wrapped her arms around Tiani. They hugged and whispered stuff in each other ear giggling with one another before she got up.

"So...."Tiani trailed off
"What?"Charmaine asked looking back at her. She sat her spatula down with her hand on her hip.

"Kain? Why is he here?"she asked with a wide grin.
"Were on our way to work. Hey I already told you I don't like him"

"You don't have to lie to me"
"I'm not. In all honesty I don't even know if I know what It feels like to like someone. "

"Are you excited when you see him?"
"Yeah...only c-"
"Do you get butterflies? "
"...sometimes bu-"
"Could your self being with him?"
Charmaine thought about it for a little bit. That was a tough question.

"A small chance but I don't think -"
"Nope...mhhmm you like him" Charmaine gave her the death glare. Tiani was very loud. She peeked over her shoulder seeing Kain in his phone.

"Go shoot your shot"
"For what? So I can get turned down? Besides don't you think it's still a little too early...No...No absolutely not. Forget everything I just said"Charmaine told Tiani as she grinned back at her.

"No. You know how you feel. Why back out now?""
"Cause were oppisites. We don't belong together."Charmaine said shaking her head.

Kain drove the car while trying to eat his food with the other.
"Stop"Charmaine scolded him. He looked at her like she was crazy.

"I'm sorry when did you become my mama?"
"Nobody is trying to be your mama. I'm just saying. Don't drive and eat at the same time."

"How im'a eat then?"Charmaine took the container of spaghetti out of his hand putting the lid back on it.

"What are you doing?"Kain stopped the car. He was holding up traffic. Cars began to honk at them,and Charmaine was looking at him as if he was out of his mind.

"Kain move the car!"she yelled at him feeling embarrassed.
"Nah gimme' my food back. Ain't nobody playin' " Kain said reaching for it.

"KAIN! Move the fucking car. Your holding up traffic on a freeway"  he shrugged putting the car in park. There were at least twelve cars behind them honking and yelling out their window.

Charmaine handed him the food back knowing he wasn't going to move. He took his time laughing at the people who cussed him out.

Charmaine had her hands on the bridge on her nose frustrated.
"Why you mad?"
"Cause you know how embarrassing that is?"

"I don't give a fuck and neither should you. That's your problem now. You care too much about what other people might think. "

"Cau-"
"Do they pay your bills?"
"No"
"Do they put food on you or your daughter back?"
"No"
"Do they put food on your table?"
"No"
"Do they do anything relevant in your life for you?,
"No"Charmaine mumbled once again.

"Okay then stop caring what other people think or feel. "He told Charmaine. The situation wasn't a big deal but it was a good time to tell her that.

"Why are you so blunt?"
"Cause I don't give a fuck"Kain shrugged.

"I should have seen that coming "
