Chapter Seventeen

Courtney – Matt Toka

“I’m coming!” I screamed.

I heard another loud honking sound coming from my drive way.

“I swear you live on that horn. You honk it so damn much!” I yelled again even though she can’t hear me.

Yet another blaring horn sound erupts from outside. I quickly grabbed my purse and rushed out the front door and angrily stomped my way over to Gwen’s car. I swung the door open and jumped in and gave her a pissed off look.

“Are you sure you don’t have duct tape on there because I don’t think there’s ever a time where your horn isn’t going off,” I rolled my eyes as I pulled on my seatbelt.

“Liar,” she scoffed, “It’s not going off right now.”

She gave me this smirk and I almost hit her.

‘I would have hit her.’

You don’t have arms! Shut up.

She started to back out of my driveway and I acknowledged my cousin in the back seat and we began driving away from my house.

“So, what are our plans for this beautiful Saturday?” I asked as I plugged in my phone and started to play my own music.

“I’m not really sure. I was thinking that we could go get some food somewhere,” Gwen responded.

“I’m good with that. Elodie, do you have any ideas?”

“How about the City Diner downtown?” she added into the conversation from the back seat.

“I’m good with that.”

We began driving downtown and mindlessly chit chatted and gossiped on the way to the cute little diner downtown. We parked right out front and I paid the meter before we all walked inside and took our seats. I sat next to Elodie and Gwen was across from us in our mint green booth.

“We’re on your oh so very important girls day you’ve been planning for weeks, so what do you want to talk about,” I eyed Gwen.

“What do you mean? I just want to hang out. I don’t have anything specific to mention.”

“Yes you do. I know you Gwen and you are a master planner and the only reason you wouldn’t plan what we’re doing is because you just need an excuse to talk to me about something, so what gives?”

“Ugh,” Gwen groaned, “You got me. Your boyfriend is leaving and you don’t know the next time you’re going to see him and you haven’t cried or complained to me once!”

I sighed, “I’m trying to ignore it,” I gave her a sad smile.

The waitress approached our table and took our orders before walking away with a smile.

“You know what you need?” Elodie said to me.

“What?” I looked her.

“You need to plan one last perfect date,” she smiled as she replied.

“Well, that definitely calls for the help of my two girls,” I smirked devilishly.

“Well then, let’s get started.”

I need loads of tea and a nap to wrap up the worst week of my life.

Later&see you next time
