THE SCOTT MCCALL BEAT DOWN

First Person

Episode: Heart Monitor
Chapter 14

"Still not talking to me?" Scott says sitting down behind Stiles. School just started and it's already horrible. I take my seat next to Stiles in the next row over.

After what happened the other night Stiles hasn't said a word to Scott.

I don't blame him. If it was my dad who got hit I'd be angry too. I'm not saying I'm picking sides but Stiles pretty much forced me on his.

"Okay, can you at least tell me if your dad's okay?" He asks.

"It's just a bruise, right? Some soft tissue damage? Nothin' that big—" He keeps going.

"You know I feel really bad about it, right?" Scott tells him.

Now I'm starting to crack. I really want to tell him it's okay. He looks so sad.

Scott sighs "Okay. What if I told you that I'm trying to figure this whole thing out, and... that I went to Derek for help?"

"If I was talking to you, I'd say that you're an idiot for trusting im. But, obviously, I'm not talking to you..." Stiles says sternly.

I can see Stiles shaking his leg with a stern look on his face. Finally he cracks.

"...What did he say?" Stiles sighs turning around. I smile and lean over to hear more clearly.

He doesn't get much out before the teacher starts teaching. Ugh!

"Wh--? He wants you to tap into your animal side and get angry?" Stiles asks as we make our way down the hallway.

Scott nods "Yeah..."

"All right, well, correct me if I'm wrong, but every time you do that, you try to kill someone, and that someone's usually us." I say sarcastically pointing between Stiles and me.

He sighs "I know. That's what he means when he says he doesn't know if he can teach me. I have to be able to control it."

Stiles asks him "Well, how's he gonna teach you to do that?"

"I don't know. I don't think he does, either..." Scott tells us.

"Okay. When are you seeing him again?" Stiles questions him as we stop in the middle of the hallway.

"He told me not to talk about it. Just act normal and get through the day." Scott says

Really? This is what you won't tell us.

Stiles gives him an annoyed look "When?"

"He's picking me up at the animal clinic after work." Scott sighs.

Stiles nods "After work. All right. Well, that gives me to the end of the school day, then..."

Oh no. He had an idea.

"To do what?" Scott frowns.

"To teach you myself." He says grabbing my hand and then dragging me down the hallway.

"I think the book's making it more obvious. Besides, she's reading, anyway." Stiles tells Scott.

It's now lunch and Scott is doing everything he  can to avoid Allison.

"So, did you come up with a plan yet?" Scott says putting down the book.

"I think so." Stiles nods.

"Great." I say as I eat.

I hope he couldn't tell I was being sarcastic.

He still hasn't told me what it is but I know whatever it is can't be good.

"Does that mean you don't hate me now?" Scott asks hopefully.

"No. But, your crap has infiltrated my life, so now I have to do something about it. Plus, I'm definitely a better Yoda than Derek." Stiles told him.

Scott nods. "Okay. Yeah, you teach me."

"Yeah, I'll be your Yoda." Stiles says excitedly.

"Yeah, you be my Yoda." Scott smiles.

"Your Yoda I will be." Stiles imitates Yoda.

God he's so cute.

He chuckles at himself "...I said it backwards."

"Yeah, I-I know." Scott stammers slightly.

"All right, you know what? I definitely still hate you. Uh-huh. Oh, yeah." Stiles says grabbing the book from Scott and running away.

Allison sees Scott and starts to yell "Scott!Scott, wait!Hey, Scott! Sc—" I run after Stiles not wanting to see that train wreck.

"Alright. So I'm gonna pick the lock and then we're gonna grab the heart monitor and Coach's phone got it?" Stiles asks as we walk into the locker room.

"Yeah sure that I got. I'm still not clear on everything else." I tell him.

"You want to basically beat Scott up with lacrosse balls and make it so he can't stop you or hurt you by tying his hands?" I question.

He nods.

"I'm starting to think your not only doing this to help but also to get back at him." I say.

"Yeah. Well he sorta deserves it. If you haven't noticed he's been a bit of a bitch lately." He says successfully picking the lock.

I just nod and start my search for the phone.

"I got it. Did you find the monitor?" I ask.

I turn and see him holding it up with a big grin on his face. Oh he is way to excited for this.

"This is not gonna be easy..." Scott tells us as we make our way to the field.

Too late to turn back now buddy.

Stiles nods "Okay. Now, put this on."

"...Isn't this one of the heart rate monitors for the track team?" Scott questions.

"Yeah, I borrowed it." Stiles lies

Scott replies pointedly "Stole it."

"Temporarily misappropriated!" Stiles yells defensively.

"Coach uses it to monitor his heart rate with his phone while he jogs, and you're gonna wear it for the rest of the day." I tell him as Stiles ties his hands at his back with duck tape.

"Isn't that Coach's phone?" He asks warily.

I nod "That... I stole." I say honestly.

"Why?" He asks me.

"All right, well, your heart rate goes up when you go wolf, right? When you're playing lacrosse, when you're with Allison, whenever you get angry... Maybe learning to control it is tied to learning to control your heart rate." Stiles tells him.

"Like The Incredible Hulk?" Scott asks.

I shrug "Kind of like The Incredible Hulk, yeah."

Scott smiles "No, I'm like The Incredible Hulk!"

"Would you shut up and put the strap on?" Stiles says annoyed.

"This isn't exactly how I wanted to spend my free period..." Scott whines.

"All right. You ready?" Stiles asks.

"No." Scott says.

"Remember-- don't get angry." I tell him.

"I'm starting to think this was a really bad idea." He tells us.

Stiles throws the first ball. I keep an eye on the monitor. So far it's good.

"Oh, man. Okay, that one kind of hurt..." Scott says in pain.

"Quiet. Remember, you're supposed to be thinking about your heart rate, all right? About staying calm." Stiles tells him.

"Stay calm. Staying calm. Staying totally calm. There's no balls flying at my face—" He mutters.

"AHHH! Son of a bitch!" He yells when Stiles hits him in the balls. Oh damn. That's gotta hurt.

"You know what? I think my aim is actually improving." Stiles says proudly.

Yeah it is. My god he looks hot when he plays.

"Wonder why..." Scott replies sarcastically.

Stiles looks at him mockingly "Don't get angry."

"I'm not getting angry." He says. Oh yes your are. His heart rate started to go up.

"Stop. Just-- can we just hold—" he asks.

He breaks free of the tape. He's changing. He falls to the ground groaning.

"Scott?" I say running up to him.

"Scott, you started to change—" Stiles tells him worried.

"From anger. But it was more than that-- it was like, the angrier I got, the stronger I felt." He tells us panting.

"No it is anger, then. Derek's right." I tell him.

Scott sighs glumly "I can't be around Allison."

Stiles questions him "Just because she makes you happy?"

"No... Because she makes me weak." Scott corrects him.

Oh god. Poor Scott. He finally gets a girl and some stupid werewolf powers ruin it.

Well. Not much. Kinda boring. Literally no Stassidy but I mean it still has to be Teen Wolf. Next chapter will be good. Then the ones after that oh god. If you know the episode I'm talking about. Be prepared.
