1. Meeting Mr. Grimes

Rosabeth's POV

I woke up, trying to figure out where I was, the walls are white, I have a bandage around my arm and shoulder, my clothes are- I'm in a hospital!

"Oh shit." I mumbled. I quickly got out of the bed and took the IV out of my arm and everything else. While walking, I got a headache so I had to stop for a few seconds. Once I was out of the room I saw that the hospital was a wreck. I looked around and found a room with a bed in front of it. Strange I thought. I moved the bed and looked inside, maybe someone in here knows why everything is a mess. As I looked inside, I saw a man laying on the ground.

"Excuse me?" I asked politely. No response. I shrugged and made my way to the nurses desk, on my way, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye beyond a door. I looked through the window, what I saw made me throw up, there was half a body on the ground, intestines ripped out. I felt a hand on my back, I didn't care, I threw everything I had in my stomach up. When I looked up I saw the same man that was on the ground.

"Hey, I'm Rosabeth Blackwood, you?" I asked dryly, wiping my mouth. "Rick Grimes, what happened to you?" He asked. "Car crash, I think it happened a while ago, just woke up, you?" I ask, looking at the bandage on his chest.

"Got shot while on the job. Do you know what's going on?" He asked. I shook my head. After that we found matches at the nurses station, found an exit and got out. On our way out we saw a door. "DON'T OPEN DEAD INSIDE" is what it said. Odd. When we got outside I had to close my eyes for a second before looking. When I looked around, I saw dead bodies everywhere.

"Oh god." I whispered covering my mouth with my hand. We made our way to the road and saw two bikes. "Look, I'll take one, you take the other?" I asked, he just nodded. As I got on the bike I saw the same thing that was in the hospital. What happened here?! We made our way to what I'm assuming was his house.

"Lori?! Carl?!" He yelled. "Do you by chance have any clothes I can borrow?" I asked. He took me to a room and pointed out a dresser. I mumbled a thanks and found some clothes.
After putting them on, I heard a yell, I ran downstairs and found Rick on the ground mumbling things to himself. After a few minutes Rick walked back outside, leaving me back in the house.

"Daddy! Daddy!" I hear someone yell before a gunshot went off. I ran outside and saw a man and a kid standing over Rick. The man had a gun in Rick's face.

"Oh god, what did you do?!" I yell running over to Rick. "Don't you take another step" the man said. "Why did you hit him over the head?!" I yelled looking back to Rick seeing him knocked out.

"What's them bandages for?" He asked completely ignoring my question.
"I got in a car crash, I think it was a few months back." I said taking a quick glance at the two men. "And him?" He asked gesturing to Rick with the gun. "Look we don't want no trouble so how about you jus-" I say before being hit over the head.

~~~~~~A few minutes later~~~~~~
I slowly wake up and try to rub my eyes, but my hands are tied to the chair I'm on... How the hell did I get here? I look to my left and see Rick on a bed but tied like me, the man standing next to the bed. I clear my throat getting his attention.
"What's your name missy?" He asked fixing Rick's bandages. "Rosabeth Blackwood, you?" I say/ask. "Morgan. Did you get bit?" He asked. "What car crash not enough for ya?" I reply.
"Did you get bit, chewed, anything like that?" He asked. It was obvious he was annoyed by me.
"Nope, just a car accident," I say looking at Rick, noticing that he is awake. "Hey Morgan, you gonna cut this damn rope or what?" I ask. He just looks at me, walks over, pulls a knife out and shows us. "You see this knife? Look at how sharp it is, both of ya. Try anything I'll kill ya with it, understand?" He asks cutting the ropes we had on our wrists. Me and Rick just mumbled a sure/yes.
A few minutes after he left I helped Rick up and draped the blanket over his shoulders, helping him to the other room the two people are in. "This place. Fred and Cindy Drake's?" Rick asked Morgan. After Morgan said he never met them, Rick explained how he knew whose house it was. After a few minutes of talking Rick went to open the 'blinds'
"Hey don't do that, there's more out there than usual. Maybe it's just the cool air, or maybe it's me firing that gun today... Stupid... firing that gun. Sound draws 'em out. All happened so fast, didn't think." Morgan explained.
"You shot that man today." I said finally butting in.
"Man?" Morgan asked. "It weren't no man." The boy butted in. "What the hell was that out of your mouth just now?" Morgan asked him. "It wasn't a man" the boy corrected himself. "You shot him in the street out front-a man." I said.
"Friend you need glasses, it was a walker. Come sit down both of ya. Before one of ya fall down." Morgan said putting some beans on two plates. Me and Rick both took seats. "Daddy, blessing," the kid said.  After blessing we all started eating. "Hey, either of ya know what's goin on?" Morgan asked.
"We both woke up today. In the hospital, went to Rick's and that's all we know." I explained. I probably looked a mess, baggy clothes, messy hair, and probably a dirty face. Too late to fix it now. "But you both know bout the dead people, right?" Morgan asked looking a little worried.
"Yeah we saw a lot of that--out on the loading docks, piled in trucks." I explain.
"No, not the ones they put down, the ones they didn't-the walkers, like the one I shot today. Cause he'd have ripped into you, tried to eat ya take some flesh at least," Morgan said, looking at us both. "Well I'm guessing this is the first time both of you are hearing it, I know how it must sound." Morgan continued. "They're out there on the street?" Rick asked.
"Yeah, they get more active after dark sometimes. Probably the cool air or the sound of my gun today. We'll be fine as long as we stay quiet probably wander off by morning. But you both listen, one thing I do know--don't you get bit," Morgan explained. "I saw both of you with bandages, that's what we were afraid of, bites kill ya. Fever burns you out, you come back." Morgan continued.
"Seen it happen." The kid finally said. After a while we all were sitting on the ground. "Carl--he your son? Well ya said his name today." Morgan asked.
"He's a little younger than your boy." Rick explained. "And he's with his mother?" Morgan asked. After a few seconds Rick said that he hoped so. "Dad?" The kid said/asked. "Hey. What's up Duane." Morgan replied. "Did ya ask him." Duane asked.
"Ya gunshot, me and my son got a little bet going on. My boy says you're a bank robber." Morgan chuckled. "Yep, that's me, the deadliest Dillinger. Kapow," Rick said, chuckling. "Sheriff's deputy." Rick said. Outside a car went off, after a few seconds Morgan calmed Duane down. "Must've bumped the car happened before," Morgan explained to us.
"Went off for a few minutes, get the light Duane." Morgan told him. I walked over to the 'blinds' stopping and turning the lantern light off. Me, Rick, and Morgan looked outside. "That noise won't it bring more of 'em?." I asked, after Morgan said it was the same one as last time.
"Nothing we can do 'bout it now. Just have to wait it out till mornin." Morgan replied. Duane came up and started to cry. After a few seconds of Morgan comforting Duane, trying to quiet him down, he explained it was his wife, saying he couldn't kill her. We all went to sleep after that.
