Makayla's POV:

 I was right.

Today has been a long day. School has gone by painfully slow today.

Thankfully it's now the last lesson of the day meaning we are in pe.

Due to being on the team, the school has rules which are that if a student is in any sports team that when it comes to pe they have to be with their team and they have to bond with each other to improve team dynamics. So while other students are doing whatever Coach is making them do. The players on the team are sat on the field and we are thinking of what to do.

Riley comes up with an idea first "How about we say our name and age then state our favourite soccer player then we say a random fact about us that can't be questioned". We all agree not knowing any other ideas.

We decide that Riley goes first since she came up with it then we go in clockwise order.

RILEY: MIDFIELDER. NO.9. "I'm Riley I'm 17 and my favourite soccer player is Christiano Ronaldo. A fact about me is that I'm the oldest of 3 siblings".

JESS: GOALKEEPER. NO.16. "I'm Jess I'm also 17. My favourite soccer player is Hope Solo. A fact about me is that I'm double-jointed".

SOPHIA: DEFENDER. NO.4. "I'm Sophia I'm 16. My favourite soccer player is Becky Sauerbrunn. A fact about me is that I have a signed shirt from the 2015 USWNT".

CHLOE: MIDFIELDER. NO.20. "I'm Chloe I'm 17. My favourite player is Lionel Messi. A fact about me is that my cousin plays for the Thorns".

BROOKLYN: FORWARD. NO. 22. "I'm Brooke or Brooklyn. I'm 16. My favourite player is Christen Press. A fact about me is I'm related to a player on the USWNT".

CAMILA: DEFENDER. NO.15. "I'm Camila but I prefer Cam. I'm 17 and my favourite player is Megan Rapinoe. A fact about me is that I love Little Mix".

It was now my turn.

MAKAYLA. GOALKEEPER. NO.1. "I'm Makyla or Mk or Kayla. I don't mind. I'm 17 nearly 18. My favourite player is Tobin Heath". It felt weird calling my mama by her actual name. "A fact about me is that I have a youtube channel".

Hailey was sat next to me so it was her turn next.

HAILEY: DEFENDER. NO.17. "I'm Hailey. I'm also 17 nearly 18. My favourite player also is Tobin Heath. A fact about me is that I love drawing".

LILLY: DEFENDER. NO.5. "I'm Lilly and I'm 15. My favourite player is Kelley O'Hara. A fact about me is that I have 15 siblings".

We all looked at her in shock.

"Lilly"? Lilly looked at me smiling. "What do you mean you have 15 siblings"?

"I have 6 sisters and 9 brothers". She replied looking confused.

A girl next to her took a deep breath. "Lils can you go and get me my drink from my bag please"? Lilly nodded and left.

"Lilly and I are orphans. I'm Skyler". FORWARD. NO.12. "I'm 17 nearly 18. My favourite soccer player is Christen press. A fact about me is that Lilly is my younger sister and we've been orphans since she was born. She was never old enough to understand so we told her that the other kids were her siblings".

"Why did you never tell us"? Dylan asked.

"I was scared". Skyler replied looking down.

Lilly returned with Skyler's drink and we gave them a group hug which was interrupted by the bell.

"How about we go on call tonight and finish this". Dylan spoke and we all nodded and made sure Dylan had us on Facebook so we could group call later.

Hailey and I headed to the school parking lot and found where Mama was parked. We got in to see Mama wearing a hat and sunglasses so she wasn't spotted. Seeing as though the only person who knows is Dylan since Mama and Momma left for training that day and when the others arrived Mama and Momma had already gone. And they didn't see them later on as Mama left the food at the cinema door since she went to get a shower. We had asked Dylan to keep it a secret for us which she has.

We got in the car and Mama headed for the airport.

"Is everything okay you two"? Mama asked.

"Yeah why"? Hailey responded.

"It's just you haven't said anything and we've been in the car for about fifteen minutes".

"Sorry Mama It's just we had team bonding in pe and we decided to name a fact about ourselves. A girl called Lilly said she had 15 siblings which confused everyone till a girl called Skyler told us they were both orphans".

"Ahh okay. So has that brought up some memories for you then"? Mama asked looking back at us through the mirror.

Hailey and I both nodded.

"I feel bad though cause we've been through it but now we have a family and there are still children who don't. Is there anything we can do to help them"? I asked while Hailey nodded in agreement.

"That's a tough one girls. You are only seventeen so there isn't much you can do. I guess you could spend time with them and be their friends. But make sure you do it for the right reasons. Don't be their friend because you think you need to. Do it because you want to be their friend".

The rest of the car journey was in silence until we arrived at the airport.

Mama parked the car then we all got out and headed inside to wait for Kelley and Christen who wouldn't be too long.

About five minutes later we saw them appear among the crowd so we waved them over to us.

Of course, Christen and Mama hugged each other first while Kelley came up to us. "Hey, Heath twins".

Hailey and I hugged her. "Hey, Kelley". Hailey responded.

"Hey Kells," I said smiling at her.

Then Kelley went and hugged Mama and Christen came and gave us a hug and we said hi.

Once we had all said hi we went and got in the car and headed home.

As soon as we arrived I went into my room thinking about everything that's happened today.

TIME SKIP: (ONLY WAY I COULD MOVE THE STORY ALONG A BIT FASTER)

It's now near the end of May and we are playing in the state final against West Albany and we are playing at home.

So far I have played every game and kept us with a clean sheet all the way throughout the games I've played and I intend on taking it all the way.

We are in the locker room and we have finished getting changed into our kits.

I roll my sleeves up and hold my hand out to Hailey who holds my hand.

We started this on our first game as we were both nervous so we held each other hands and it helped then so since then we've kept it as a tradition.

"Can I come in"? Coach shouts from outside the door so we let him know he can.

"Everyone Ready"? Most of us just nod and reply with a yes.

"Come on we are in the state final. NOW, ARE WE READY"!

"YEEEAAAHHHH"!

"SCREAM LOUDER. LET THEM HEAR YOU"!

"WE ARE READDDYY"! We shouted and jumped up screaming.

"That's better. Now get out there and prove yourselves to everyone out there at how good you really are".

Once again we cheered and ran out making the crowd roar.

We huddled up as Dylan went for the coin toss. She came back and told us which side we were shooting at.

"Okay, so we've practised for this the whole of the year so far. We have bonded so much that we might as well be related I know that much about you all. Now, let's use that bonding to be able to communicate non verbally and verbally on the pitch. I want you all to use every single emotion possible. I need every bit of fight you have. I want you to be fierce. We deserve this win. Don't be careless but don't be too careful either. Got it"?

We all nodded smiling and getting pumped up.

"Then let's show them what we've got".

"CARDINALS ON THREE!

"CARDINALS" We all high-fived and ran onto the field.

I jumped and touched the bar twice then clapped my hands then Hailey quickly ran and jumped in my arms and we whispered good luck to each other then she ran to get into position.

The whistle blew and we had kickoff. Straight away I could see how this game was going to go.

West Albany was playing very defensive and for the first ten minutes our attacks were stopped as soon as we got into their half but our defence was the same so nothing really happened.

In the 22nd minute, Riley crossed the ball to Skye who headed the ball into the net giving us the headstart.

Unfortunately, that was bad for us as the Bulldogs were getting really dirty trying to get past our defence.

Number 12 on their team had the ball and came up against Lilly who perfectly tackled her and passed the ball to Chloe.

"YESS LIL"! I shouted to which she looked at me and smiled so I gave her a thumbs up.

Chloe ran up the right-wing and passed the ball to Dylan who was in the centre. Dylan chipped the ball to Brooklyn who brought the ball down to her foot and strikes the ball to the bottom right corner and it barely missed the keeper's fingers and went straight to the back of the net.

Now it's around the 36th minute and bulldogs number 9 was making a run with the ball. Number 12 was running down the middle not far behind number 9. I was alert and ready for their next move.

Number 9 managed to get past Sophia and took a shot but Hailey blocked it clearing it. The ball landed with an opponent who passed it to number 12.

Lilly once again got ready to challenge her.

What happened next I don't think anyone saw coming.

Lilly once again perfectly tackled the ball making them both land on the ground. Unfortunately, the ball landed with the opposition who crossed the ball in and was deflected away slightly. I looked back to Lilly to see number 12 get up and stand on Lilly's stomach and walk away.

I looked forward to see that the ball flying towards me. I ran to Lilly ignoring the ball. The referee blew her whistle but I didn't care. I sat next to Lilly who had blood on her jersey. I lifted it up slightly seeing deep cleat marks in her stomach.

I signalled for the medics who came over straight away to help. The referee pulled me aside and I explained what happened.

Number 12 denied it but a parent who was sat in front witnessed and recorded the whole thing so the referee went to watch the video. The referee went and talked to the officials and the assistant referees.

Lilly was taken off the field and we had gone for a quick water break. The Coach told us how proud of us he was. The referees were back and we got back into position. A red card was shown to number 12 and she angrily stormed off.

The referee then pointed to the scoreboard and the bulldog's goal was deducted.

It was now coming to the final minute in extra time and both teams have had chances but nothing came of them.

The whistle blew and our team all ran onto the field celebrating.

I went to find Hailey to hug her but the bulldog captain came up to me and we shook hands. "Good game". I smiled sympathetically at her.

"Thanks, you too also I wanted to apologise for what happened to your defender. Don't worry Megan is in a lot of trouble. Well, she has for a while really as she rarely shows up to practice. You don't have to worry about her ever again. I hope your defender recovers well. We look forward to seeing you next season".

 "Thank you so much and I'm looking forward to it". We smiled and she walked away.

Suddenly someone jumped on my back and I knew it was Hailey.

We celebrated on the field them it was the award time.

"The player of the match goes to.... Makayla Heath".

I was shocked that it was me but I went and got my award.

A couple more trophies were given to both teams.

"Finally for a clean sheet for the whole season the top keeper award goes to Makayla Heath". Once again  I was shocked but I went and got my trophy. I can't believe I got two trophies. I didn't even think I would get one.

The award ceremony finished then we all celebrated with our families in the stands.

Hailey and I went to see Mama and Momma who was in disguise in the stands.

We still haven't told anyone we are Tobin Heath's daughters. They know our last name is Heath but when they asked we would just say it's a coincidence. The only person who knows is still just Dylan.

"I'm so proud of you both" Mama said as we both gave her our trophies".

"Thanks, Mama" We both replied.

The three of us had a hug that Sinc joined in on.

"The game was recorded and put on the school website so I sent the link to the Thorn's group chat and your Mama sent it to the national team. I may have also sent it to my national team's group chat" Momma said slyly making us laugh.

I looked on the pitch to see Skyler sat in the centre circle with her head in her hands.

"I'll be right back". I went and stood in front of her.

"Skyler, you okay"?

"What"? She looked up.

"Oh Makayla, yeah I'm okay". I sat next to her.

"Skyler it's okay to cry". She nodded then leaned on my shoulder and started crying.

"Hey she'll be okay she's tough". Skyler just nodded.

"Remember in practice when we were scrimmaging and Lilly and I were on the same team and we both went for the ball and we collided and I landed on her"? Skyler nodded. "I came out of that collision with a bloody nose but Lilly was just laid there laughing and had no injuries". Skyler nodded and laughed.

"She can beat this okay trust me she'll be fine. They'll wrap her up then let her rest and recover for a couple of weeks then she'll be back to her usual self".

"Yeah, you're right thanks, Makayla".

"Anytime".

All of the fans had now left and the bulldogs had also gone.

The only people left now was the team and our families. Lilly was back out and had a normal t-shirt on while we were all still in our kits.

Hailey and I had a talk with Mama and Momma then we told Coach we had an announcement so he got the teams attention.

"We want to apologise as we have lied to you about something". The team looked at us confused.

"Mama, Momma". Hailey said.

Mama and Momma took their hats off then removed their glasses and scarves. The team was all shocked at what they were seeing.

"Tobin is our Mama and since she is living with Christine we started calling her Momma as she acts like a mom to us". Hailey continued.

"We lied to you as we didn't want anything to be expected of us and we didn't want you to love you for Tobin and Sinc. We wanted you to love us for us.

So we asked them t disguise themselves when coming to our games. But now we know you like us for us so we figured we'd be truthful". I finished explaining.

We had a team hug and the team told us that it was okay and they didn't mind the lie since we had a good enough reason.

Since it was a late Thursday night game the Principal allowed us to have tomorrow off which meant a slightly longer weekend to chill and relax.

Or so I thought
