Makayla's POV:

"Okay Makayla I'm Coach Dunbar. You can either call me Coach, Coach Dunbar, Coach Liam or Liam. It's your choice I don't mind either way".

I nodded "It's nice to meet you, Coach". Coach and I shook hands.

Coach and I talked a little about my past teams etc so he could get to know me a little bit first.

"Right now onto the real stuff, go get changed into your kit". Coach smiled and I got up. I went and got changed into the kit I brought with me since I knew I was going to be trying out today. I walked back out and followed Coach outside to the soccer pitch where I'm guessing the team was standing.

"Okay, now Makayla get in goal and show us what you've got. We'll start off easy with the defenders shooting first then onto the midfielders then finally the forwards. Each player will get one shot at you".

I nodded and did my normal ritual of jumping up and touching the bar twice then I clapped and go into position waiting for the first player to set up.

So far I haven't let any in and all five defenders have taken a shot at me.

Now onto the midfielders and Hailey is up first.

Hailey steps up to the ball and I don't need to look long as I already know where she is going.

I guess correctly as the ball comes to the left of me and I easily catch it and throw it back.

The rest of the midfielders take their shots which once again I managed to save them all.

Now onto the forwards. The first two were slightly harder but I could still easily read them and save them.

The last two are Dylan and another girl who I believe is called Brooklyn.

Brooklyn goes first since Dylan is going last due to being the captain. She steps up to the ball like normal but as I'm trying to read her I realise she isn't giving off any indication of where she is going so I decide that it'll be best if I stay in the middle and quickly move either way as quickly as I can in hopes of saving it.

Brooklyn runs up to the ball and kicks it with good force.

The ball starts heading towards the top right corner of the goal so I quickly make a diving move and manage to catch the ball.

Unfortunately in catching the ball, I wasn't positioned well for the landing so I fell on my left shoulder. Which meant that it took all of the force from my dive.

I landed with a thud and the team rushed over to me. Due to the pain of my arm and the landing, I didn't move or speak.

"Makayla, can you hear me"? The voice of Coach said.

I managed to muffle out a yes making everyone take a deep breath of relief.

To everyone's dismay, I slowly stood up and insisted I was fine.

I gave my shoulder a quick rub. "Okay, Dylan your turn".

"Makayla, you sure you're okay"? Dylan asked clearly concerned. I nodded and passed her the ball.

Dylan set the ball up and I got into position. I saw her look at my left shoulder before she made eye contact with me. I knew what she was going to do and I knew it was going to be hard to avoid being hurt even more.

She took a run up and strikes the ball straight at my left shoulder. Once again I dived and caught the ball. This time I made sure to avoid landing on my shoulder leaving me with the only option I could think of due to being in a bad position. So I ended up flipping and landing on my back with the ball still in my hands.

I got up straight away but took a deep breath due to the force of landing on my back which knocked the breath out of me slightly.

Everyone was shocked with what had just happened so I passed the ball back to Dylan then headed to the coach who had been watching from the sideline.

"So Coach How did I do"?

Coach smiled then grabbed a box from the bench.

"Hailey, Everyone else get over here".

The team headed over to us.

Coach opened the box. "First off Hailey, this arrived today for you". He reached into the box and pulled out a soccer shirt and shorts and chucked them at her which she caught. She held them up showing them to us while looking at them herself.

"So Hailey you are officially on the team now. Also, Makayla do you want to be on the team"?

"Yes Coach". He smiled at me.

"Good we were hoping you would say that". He reached back into the box and pulled out another soccer shirt and shorts and also threw them to me. I caught them and took a good look at them with a massive smile on my face.

"Well, both of you go put them on then".

Hailey and I went to the changing room and put our new kits on for the first time.

As soon as we walked out all the girls started clapping and cheering at us.

We were then all talking trying to get to know each other better. Then the bell rang signalling the end of the day.

"Hold on Makayla Hailey . Let's get some pictures of you both for the team's social media".

Hailey and I posed for Coach while he took a few pictures. We each took 2 separately. 1 serious and one laughing. We then took 2 together also 1 serious and one where Hailey was on my back with us laughing.

"Coach can you wait till later to post the pictures as we want to surprise our Mama". I asked to which he gave me a thumbs up.

Hailey and I got our stuff but stayed in our kits apart from we changed our shoes.

We headed to my Camaro and it dawned on me that Hailey was driving us home today.

"Hails please be careful". Hailey rolled her eyes at me. "What do you think  I was gonna do"?

We got in the car and Hailey set off. The whole ride home I was terrified but Hailey drove us safely home without any issues.

Hailey parked the car on the driveway and we got out. We walked to the door and I opened it slightly.

"MAMA! MOMMA"! They both shouted back to us.

"Can you come here but close your eyes please".

They responded with an okay.

"Okay, we are ready and have our eyes closed". Momma said.

Hailey and I walked in and stood in front of them. I nodded at Hailey.

"Okay now open your eyes". Hailey said.

Mama and Momma both opened their eyes and when they saw what we were wearing they screamed with joy and pulled us into a group hug. They got us to pose in our kits while they took some pictures. Probably to send to the teams.

Once they stopped fussing over us and congratulating us they decided to order food as a celebration.

Hailey and I went upstairs to get a shower and change out of our kits.

Once I've finished I head downstairs as we were going to have a family night and watch some movies and eat the food we ordered.

A few minutes later Hailey came down and all four of us sat on the sofa and Mama chose for us to watch Cars.

Ten minutes into the movie there was a knock at the door so Mama went to get it. She came back a few seconds later with food.

We ate our food while watching the movie and talking and laughing.

"Oh girls I need to let you know before I forget. The thorns are playing Utah in a couple of days a home so Christen and Kelley are going to be staying with us if that's okay with you". Mama said.

Hailey and I both nodded.

"Okay good. Their flight is tomorrow afternoon so if you want I can take you to school then pick you up after then we can go straight to the airport to collect them".

"Yeah, that sounds good Mama". I said and Hailey agreed.

The rest of the night we continued watching Cars then we decided to head to bed since tomorrow was going to be a long day.
