The Violent Prosecutor

PROMPT: Armed with her pure angelic looks and bright smile, Prosecutor Son Yejin has fooled everyone into thinking she's a lamb. Once in the courtroom, she turns into a terror wolf who practically eats up witnesses and opposing counsels like candy.

Except for one.

"Prosecutor Son, this is your last warning."

Looking at the feisty lawyer who had just finished badgering the witness currently in the middle of a panic attack on the witness stand, Judge Ri addresses the impassioned woman with equal parts seriousness and drollness.

The young and beautiful prosecutor Son Yejin had been assigned to Judge Ri's sala only two years ago. Needless to say, the entire courtroom staff was completely enamored by her stunning beauty, her innocent charms, and her quick wit.

Everyone would scramble to execute any of her orders, be it asking them to procure a piece of documentary exhibit from all the way across town, or just requesting to have her lunch brought inside her office.

Anything the lovely lawyer wants, she gets in just the snap of her fingers.

It helped that she was well liked, for though she meant business when it came to her work, she was an absolute joy to be around the moment she stepped out of the court or her office.

People were freaked out when the bright eye-smile they were so used to seeing plastered on the lawyer's face suddenly turned into a ferocious growl when the woman appeared in Judge Ri's court for the first time.

Spectators bore witness to how the Little Lamb, as they would fondly call her, seemed to have transformed into a Big Bad Wolf with the way she chewed out witnesses and defense counsels alike.

But, from then on, Prosecutor Son earned even more respect from the people around her.

"Your Honour, please," Prosecutor Son says with both conviction and politeness, crossing her arms and looking at the Judge squarely in the eye. "I am representing the State. It is my job to find out the whole truth, no more and no less. If this witness can't handle it, then maybe his lawyer should have prepared him better."

Judge Ri almost chuckles upon hearing the comment. He directs his attention to the lawyer beside the prosecutor. "What do you say to that, Attorney Hyun?"

"I must seriously object to that insinuation, Your Honour," defense counsel Hyun Bin replies, straightening himself up.

Unlike the incensed lady lawyer beside him, he keeps his hands to his side and exudes a quiet air of calmness in spite of the palpable tension between the two adversaries.

"Prosecutor Son cannot blame her frustrations on the witness when he has already testified to the pertinent matters in this case. She cannot ask him about things outside his knowledge, Your Honour," Hyun Bin coolly states matter-of-factly.

Scoffing lightly, Yejin uncrosses her arms, her eyes still unblinking. "And I must object to that. To call my questioning the witness a mere frustration is seriously below the line, that is not the-"

"Alright, alright," Judge Ri interrupts, waving his hand in the air. "I can see where this is going. Prosecutor Son, reduce your objections into a written Motion 5 days from today. Meanwhile, I must agree with Attorney Hyun, and this witness is now deemed dismissed. So ordered."

Yejin visibly seethes at the thought of being overruled, but just before she can say something yet again, Judge Ri beats her to it.

"And also, I gather the two of you-" he moves his point finger from Yejin to Hyun Bin, giving them a knowing look "-can probably work this out among yourselves after this. Alright? No more endless arguing at the next hearing."

As Judge Ri taps his gavel twice to signify the end of the session, spectators exit quietly, mumbling to themselves about the impressive verbal tournament between the two lawyers.

The said lawyers, on the other hand, also exit the courtroom, walking side by side without looking at each other, both of them heading towards the elevator.

Silence accompanies them as they wait for the shaft to arrive on their floor. Yejin takes a moment to greet passersby who voice out their admiration for the lady prosecutor.

While saying hello to a stranger to her left, she inadvertently steals a glance at Hyun Bin, whose eyes are still trained towards the shaft, his face sporting an expression of utmost neutrality.

When the elevator finally arrives, he steps aside to let her enter first, which she does with a small nod to his direction, before joining her inside.

As the doors slowly close, the mirrored panels bring their respective reflections together, and it is at this juncture that Hyun Bin drops his documents bag to the ground, faces the quiet woman beside him, before collecting her in his arms.

"I had to do that, Jagi. I'm sorry," he whispers in her ear, moving his head to nestle it against the crook of her neck.

She doesn't flinch, opting to watch him rub himself against her side like a cat through the mirrored panels in front of them.

When he lands a soft kiss on her temple, Yejin can't help but smile, pairing it with a slow exhale.

"It's just work, don't apologize," she replies softly, moving her hands up to clutch his arms, her wolf persona now nowhere to be found. "I don't bring work matters outside the courtroom or the office, remember?"

He releases his tight hold on her, leaning back to study her face. Reaching over, he brushes a wayward strand of hair off her face. "Are you back to being my Little Lamb?"

"Depends where we're going," she answers coyly in a dangerously low voice, batting her lashes up at him, her immaculate eyebrows raised as if to challenge him once again.

When the elevator hits the parking lot, Hyun Bin doesn't waste any time in grabbing her hand and leading her to his car, drawing the prosecutor to laugh at his antics.

"I have an idea."
