The Stalker

A week.

It had been one, whole, damn week since you and Kylo sat across from each other in his quarters and spoke of Lieutenant Mitaka. Where he had asked you to keep tabs on the Lieutenant and report back to Kylo every afternoon.

You honestly didn't think you would last that long. But you have.

Each day you would follow the Lieutenant around discretely and note his daily course of actions. And what a damn boring life he has.

Data pad in hand you would take notes, on where he's been or where he's going. Nothing very suspicious about any of that since it was the man's job.

After a day of stalking you would make way for Ren's quarters and run through the Lieutenant's day to him before being sent to your own quarters, sleeping and it all happening again the next day.

Today you decided to sit in a room Kylo gave you access to that looks out into the control room - a large double glazed window located at the end of the wall. It was a box type room with a desk and it's own control panel. You don't know what any of the buttons do, nor will you find out. You were too scared to touch any of them so you just sat in an uncomfortable seat, looking down into the control room as a large number of First Order workers paced around doing their jobs.

Only, you were taking note of what the Lieutenant is doing.

You watch as he turns off a few of the nearby computer terminals before making way for the main door. Another day done.

You grab your data pad and make way for the door of the room. It slides open within seconds and you step out into the corridor.

Passing a few other rooms, to the left you click the panel beside the closest elevator. A few people already occupy it but you enter anyway. Your motive is to blend in.

Timing it perfectly as you do every other day, the moment the elevator doors open on the lower floor, Lieutenant Mitaka walks past. You easily slide out and merge into the traffic of the corridor, following Mitaka.

You follow him at some distance, going unnoticed to prevent raising any attention. You're successful.

Making it to the residence part for he ship, you watch from a windowed alcove as the Lieutenant types the pin into his door and enters.

You let out a tired sigh as you type into the data pad what time he entered his room, before beginning to make your way back. Taking turns and elevators to different floors you end up back on the floor of the control room.

The corridors are more empty at this time. The few people on night shift visible round every corner.

You reach the meeting rooms you've been in many times now and make way for the elevator at the end of this corridor. You're the only one that enters, clicking the button on the lowest part of the panel.

You stand in silence as the elevator descends to the very bottom floor, hating the tickling sensation that fills your stomach. Noting that you're almost at the bottom floor, you swiftly press your back against the elevator wall, flattening yourself as the doors slide open. You stand hidden in the elevator for a moment. Hearing out for any form of movement or footsteps.

Not hearing either, you empty the elevator and creep through the short corridor. Though the typical day is over you can still hear faint voices coming from the electrical room.

Placing most of your weight on your toes as you walk, you make why for the door situated on the left of the corridor.

You take a deep breath before entering the door. This is always the worst part. The passageway is colder than the corridor. The air biting through your uniform as you walk along the platform, hundreds of feet high nestled into the wall of the ship.

You grip the railings of the platform tight, taking quick even steps until you reach the door on the left. Kylo isn't here to distract you from your fear of heights this time.

You open it swiftly, casting your gaze out to double check there's no movement before walking out.

You stride down the corridor to the small box of a room you came to that day a week ago. Bypassing the door so Kylo could track the message that was sent my Lieutenant Mitaka.

His time, you don't need to bypass the door. Having effortlessly snatched one of the 'electrical room workers' access card from his belt the second day on the job.

You pull it from your own belt and wave it in front of the panel beside the door. A little green light flashes before it slides open.

Walking into the room, the door slides shut behind you. The lights are off in the room but the glow of buttons and flickers of light coming from the transmitter illuminate the room enough.

You draw toward the transmitter and take a seat. The feeling of this position has become familiar now.

Every afternoon from the past week you would come here. Sit in this chair and turn on the private transmitter typing in the location of your Takodana base.

You'd sit in the corridors of the ship and listen to the electrical workers talk about the transmitter. Taking notes on your data pad beside the ones you had on Mitaka.

You knew that the transmissions received could be tracked, but the ones that are sent aren't recorded. Perfect.

You reach forward and turn the transmitter on, watching as the little screen flickers on. Your fingers move fast over the buttons pressing each one like you've been working on the machine for years now.

With the click of a button, a small keypad pulls out from the desk. You wistfully type in the location of the Takodana base and begin to write your message.

The message is the same as every other day. No change in words.

The message reads:

——————————•••••——————————

Confidential - This message is directed to pirate Maz Kanata of Castle Takodana and no one else's eyes

This message is sent from Fighter 1001 reporting directly from the First Order fleet of The Finalizer

'Maz, I've found myself in the company of the First Order and under control of Commander Kylo Ren and assistance of General Armitage Hux. Taken from Jakku approximately a week ago, on mission CT228 with the company of Fighter 1004 - Lera Gracol.

I'm reported safe and unharmed. I hope this message finds you well and please SEND HELP.

I seek your guidance in my survival and pray all is well.'

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MESSAGE

——————————•••••——————————

With a swift click of a button, the transmission is sent.

You sit back in the chair, eyeing the small screen as it pends your message. You bite the inside of your cheek as you silently pray any of your messages, if not all, have made their way to the presences of Maz.

At these moments each afternoon you find yourself missing the place you called home more than you ever had. What you would do so see the pure 'greenness' of that planet. To see the moss ridden walls of Castle Takodana.

Sparring with Lera and other members of Maz's direct support crew. The afternoons in the cantina avoiding the certain pirates and smugglers that came to visit, as well as speaking to others about their travels across the galaxy.

That emptiness in your chest, begging to be filled again.

You heave a short breath, breaking yourself out of your thoughts before tears have the chance of prickling your eyes.

You stand from the transmitter, turning it off before walking out of the room.

Within no time, you're back at the residence part of the ship. You can almost feel the air of your quarters as you walk through the corridor.

Sadly walking past your door, you continue down the corridor until you stand outside the black door of Kylo's quarters.

You raise a hand to knock the way you do every afternoon, but before you even have the chance to touch the door it slides open.

You jolt back from the scare and cast your gaze to the doorway. Making her way out of Kylo's quarters is Captain Vi.

Her gaze meets yours as she goes to pass you. Her hair is knotted and she holds her boots in her hands.

You gift her a slight nod.

"Captain."

She nods back. "Zero."

Your lip curls at the name coming out of her mouth.

She begins to walk down the corridor before you turn. "Busy afternoon?" You ask, not hiding the smirk that makes its way onto your lips.

She pouts her lips before a cunning smile is present on her own reddened lips. "Very busy," she says. "And tiring. Today was really long."

Shudder at the double meaning. Okay you win. You grimace at her before turning on you heel toward Kylo's quarters.

"Hey Zero," you turn back around to face Captain Vi. She takes steady steps forward.

"Do you spar?" She asks, with excitement in her eyes. This bitch wants to fight.

You nod. "I do. Why?" Well used to, back on Takodana you would spar with Lera and other members of your crew. The only exercise you get these days is from following the Lieutenant around and of a morning when you do sit ups in your quarters.

Vi gifts you a smile.

"You should come train with me tomorrow morning. You're part of the crew now. Danger at every corner." She smiles. "Best to be prepared. I'm sure it's been a while since you've brawled." She narrows her eyes at you. Waiting for your answer.

"Well I'll have to check with the Commander..." you say.

"Oh I'm sure he won't mind." She takes another step toward you. "Can you fight?"

"Is your hair red?" You're quick to answer. She huffs a fake laugh.

"Perfect. See you tomorrow."

You watch as Vi turns around and makes her way down the corridor, disappearing to the right at the end of it.

Bitch.

You turn and walk into Kylo's quarters, tapping your hand over the panel for it to close. You draw directly toward the table and chairs against the wall the way you do every other afternoon.

You place your data pad down on the table calling out to Kylo, since he hasn't made an appearance yet.

You turn to the sound of someone shifting behind you, you could sense it was him before he exited his bedroom.

Your eyes widen at the sight of him before immediately spinning back around toward the table.

"Ren!!!!" You cry.

There he was, standing, fucking shirtless in the middle of the room.

Your eyes latch onto the wall in front of you as you stiffen to the sight you just witnessed. Thank fuck he had pants on.

You tap your hand out over the chair beside you and grab the shirt draped over the back of it. You throw it behind you toward him, your intention clear for him to take the shirt and put it on.

A low huff releases from his throat as you hear more shuffling from come from him. You hear his steps draw toward you not too close but close enough.

You turn toward him, accepting that he's fully dress. But your greeted with the opposite.

You stare at his bare chest before shooting your gaze up to look at his face. Not tearing your gaze away from his eyes. You don't want to look.

You furrow your brows and snatch the shirt from his hand.

"Can you fucking put a shirt on," You whine, shoving the shirt into his chest.

You walk past him, keeping your back to him as you can definitely hear him pull the shirt on one this head.

Spinning back toward him, hating that stupid smirk that's crawled it way onto his crooked lips.

You draw back toward the table.

"Listen your highness, if I'm going to be your seneschal than we're going to have to set some ground rules."

Ha, your highness. Your mind smiles that the part truth of the name.

Kylo takes a seat on the arm of the chair beside the table. He raises a brow. "Like?" He questions.

"Like, no ladies in your quarters during our meeting time."

He nods. "Okay, I'll have to tell them the next time I see one." He eyes you. You narrow your eyes at him.

You draw out the seat you stand in front of and sit, grabbing the data pad off the table. You raise your brows at him. "Do you want the report or not?"

He shrugs his shoulders and crosses his arms over his chest.

Never in your life did you think that there would actually be a day you'd consider yourself getting along with Kylo Ren. Over the past week, coming to his quarters every afternoon without fail has created a slight bond between the two of you. A bound that makes your nerves shudder. Hating the admission of it.

Though you may be able to look and talk to him without wanting to wrap your hands around his throat, you still can't shake the thoughts of what he does, and what he's done.

And goodness knows what he does during his days. How many people he tortures and slaughtered on the clock. All the while you keep tabs on a man that's apparently planning to kill him.

You open your data pad and begin to look through your report, only telling him the important parts like what time he left his room and the time he got to the control room.

Kylo nods at each of the dot points as you read them out.

"...Then he sent a ship of 100 troopers to the planet of Cantonica to deliver blue prints of the new plans for the lastest fleet models to some guy," you continue to scan your notes. "Thennn, during his lunch break he received some invitation to the 'Ilum Party', whatever the fuck that is..."

You continue to read the dot points, rushing through them as the thought of sleep filled your mind. You tell Kylo how you watched him in the control room before leaving for his quarters, telling Kylo the exact time he walked in the door.

You look up at him, placing the data pad on the table and leaning back in your chair. You look as Kylo furrows his brows. You raise your shoulders.

"What?"

He leans forward in his seat, resting his elbows on his knees. "You said Mataka entered his quarters at 19:15 hours," he points toward the clock on his wall. "And it's know 20:15 hours,"

You look at him confused. "So?"

"So, why did it take you an hour to get from his quarters to mine?" He eyes your features the way he does. Gaze scanning over your skin as he tilts his head. "Last time I walked from that part of the ship to here it only took me ten minutes..."

Fuck.

"Well that's because you have such fucking long legs that get you places faster, plus I was just enjoying the walk." You can tell he's not convinced. "Spending my whole day taking notes on some guy that picks his nose and doesn't wash his hands after going to the bathroom, is pretty continuous."

You stand from your seat, data pad in hand. "Surely you understand why I would want to enjoy a peaceful walk back to your quarters in my own time."

Kylo doesn't say a word, just continues looking at you and only you.

You inhale quickly and clap your hands. "Welp, if you don't mind I wanna go to bed soooo..."

You turn on your heel and make way for the door. You hear Kylo's footsteps catch up behind you. You hit the panel beside the door and it slides open.

You step out of his quarters and turn toward him. You want to know what he's thinking. You've become so good at reading his emotions over the last week but this...

This is different. You can't tell what's going on inside his mind. Before you just turn and leave him here to gawk you point a finger at him, remembering.

"Oh, Vi wants me to train with her tomorrow," You give him an amused sneer. "I think she wants to fight." You laugh.

"And?" He says.

"And...I want to fight her so I suppose I'm asking you permission to spar with her tomorrow." You bite the inside of your cheek. His response is expected and quick.

"I'll escort you."

A smile rides your face and you make your way down the corridor.

"Still don't trust me huh?" You glance over your shoulder at him, coming to a stop outside your door.

You feel a strange sensation build in the back of your head. It doesn't hurt like you know the feeling to, but more just feels strange.

"Not in the slightest."

Kylo's voice ricochets through your mind. You smile on the spot, looking back up the corridor to where he stands in his doorway.

You blow him a quick kiss before entering your quarters.
