and the universe said "I love you"

adding more unnecessary details to Florida's backstory

tw: death

It's dark, faint light creeping into the hall through the cracks under doors. A shadow passes through, blocking light as it passes. No one's awake to notice. Barely audible footsteps make their way down the hall, stopping before a worn down door.

There's no need for the handle, it never gets shut anyway. He makes sure the door does not creak as he steps in, careful not to disturb the person sleeping. He sits slowly, pausing when the person shifts.

He settles in the half of the bed usually reserved for their parnters, instead it's him sitting next to them.

He sighs, running a hand through their hair and smiling softly when they lean into the touch, "I'm so proud of you." He whispers, "You've come so far," he takes in a shaky breath, "and I'm so proud of you. I'm sorry I couldn't say it earlier." He pulls away, wiping his eyes and sighing, "I miss you, kid, but it isn't your time. I'll see you when I see you, sleep well, mi corazón."

He sighs once more, finally allowing the pull from the house's energy to take over, bringing him back to his final resting place. It would be a while before he saw his son again, but he knew Florida would never let him be forgotten.
