Dragons: Windstriker (Shelby) and Monstrous Nightmare (Kelby)

Names: Skybuck and Blazetwister

Personality:

Skybuck: Loves to try out new stunts in the sky with his rider. Very out there personality and knows what's what.

Blazetwister: A bit of a joker but can be serious when he needs to be. Loves high speed flying and very sure of himself. Because of this, he doesn't take too well to those who are seen as better than him.

Shelby

"Alright Skybuck! And... touch down! Alright!" I hugged my Windstriker tightly. He's so fast and so cool! I can't believe I got him as my dragon! I turned just in time to see Kelby crash land his Monstrous Nightmare, Blazetwister. "Whoo! Almost! Let's keep practicing that move Blazeey!" He told his dragon with a huge smile that could make girls faint. Kelby's not interested in girls though. Like me, all he cares about is the thrill of the twists and turns. Yep. You've guessed it. We're the daredevils of the Viking time!

Kelby

I picked myself up after crash landing when my dragon and I were trying to pull off a particularly dangerous stunt. One where we start high up then aim straight for the ground doing front flips until the last second where we pull up. The pulling up part didn't quite work out however. We're gonna need to work on that. I looked over at Shelby and smile. She's always been there for me. We may not be related but to me she's like my twin. Twins of fate I always like to say. Shelby shook her head at me. "Well come on then Kel. We better get going or Astrid's going to yell at us again"

"Alright! Lead the way Shel!" I followed Shelby inside the academy with our dragons trailing behind us closely.

Shelby

"You two really need to start taking this seriously you know! Life isn't all fun and games!" Astrid snapped at us. I dropped Dow from the perch I was hanging upside down on. "We know. We aren't fooling around. We're not the twins. We can't help being daredevils. That's who we are! And who knows. It might just come in handy right Kel?!"

"Right!" Kelby replied back while hanging upside down on Blazetwister. I looked down at my newly acquired weapon. Both Kel and I chose long chains attached to handles that we could swing around. We even recently discovered that when we throw it towards each other, it connects and creates a trip rope mid-air. Now that will be AWESOME in battle! Back to Astrid now. She finished lecturing us then went on to talk about hand to hand combat as we'll need it if our weapons are not on hand. So here we are now. Kelby vs Astrid. I watch on the sidelines with Skybuck. Eating Popcorn and Yak butter that the dragon riders had discovered during one of their many adventures. I watch the fight intently with a smirk. Kelby is so gonna get creamed.

Kelby

Astrid stood before me with a really unsettling smile. I looked over to Shel for support but see her face. Well. No support there. Looks like I'm on my own. I carefully advance. Keeping my full attention on my opponent. Astrid charged and I just barely dodged in time. For most of the occurring fight I dodged this way and that. Making sure to keep out of her reach while searching for anything that could give me the upper hand. After another agonisingly close dodge, I found my chance when I just happened to look up. I smirked and Astrid and saw her falter in confusion as a ran the opposite way directly towards the wall.

Shelby

The fight was going good so far. Kel wasn't getting creamed as I had thought. But he also wasn't doing very well either. I was just about to pop another Yak buttered popcorn into my mouth when I abruptly spat it out. Kelby had completely changed direction and began charging for the wall behind him. What is he thinking!? My question was answered a few seconds later when he launched himself onto the wall before catapulting back towards Astrid, swinging on a bar above her before letting go and slamming onto her. Knocking her down flat.

Kelby

I got quickly got off Astrid. "Ahh... are you ok?" I asked her sheepishly. Whoops. I didn't mean to do it that hard. I heard a small moan from Astrid and she slowly stood up. "Wow! I hate to admit it. But I think your daredevil stunts might actually be useful Kelby". Praise coming from the tough girl. Nice! "Of course it's useful. We've been telling you that since day one"

"Yeah. I suppose you have. Shelby! You're up now!" I looked over to Shel for the first time in a while. Her face is one of pure shock.

Shelby

I stumbled over towards Astrid getting ready for my fight with her. This is the last lesson of the day so I had better make it count. I shook my head a few times trying to get rid of my shock in seeing Astrid get beaten by Kel. That rarely happens to Astrid. I now turned my eyes toward my opponent. She had looked sore and beaten before but now she was full of action and had a particular glint in her eyes that made me cringe. Great. She's serious now. Way to go Kel. Like before, Astrid charged first and before I knew it, I had jumped gracefully over her and completed a flip before landing on my feet the other side. Astrid stopped in her tracks. Confused once more. I smiled mischievously. She can hit what she can't see fast enough. And I am really good at flips so she better watch out. I confidently smirk and rush towards her.

Kelby

The fight between Shel and Astrid took less than a minute. Shel had looked so confident until Astrid gridlocked her and flung her to the ground. Shel couldn't make any other moves and that was it. She stood up with a sigh. Astrid straightened herself up and faced both of us. Ready to give a speech. "Well done you two. You fought really well for beginners. And Shelby, don't worry about it. You were up against and expert. You lasted really well and that jump you made early on was awesome. With a little more practice, you could become a fierce fighter yet. And now for you Kelby". She glanced my way. I straightened up. Trying to look cool and not as nervous as I was. "That stunt you pulled may have been just pure luck, but luck is a very handy tool. I look forward to seeing what you both will achieve in the future!" And that was it. Training was finished.

Shelby

I felt relieved that we had finished for the day but I still felt ashamed that I got beat by Astrid in no time. Skybuck came over and nudged me worriedly. I smiled and jumped onto his back. "Let's do some loops and flips now!" My dragon smiled gleefully and took off with much speed. I called behind me to Kel, "Beat you to the far side of the island!" He grinned and jumped on Blazetwister chasing after us.

"They better be. The entire future of the dragons rest on them"

"But for them to do so they need to put their past behind them"

"Do you think they'll be able to do that?"

"We'd better hope so. Because if they fail. Life as we know it will end"
