chapter 48❤

"Tomorrow is Sunday." Hritika mumbled to which Aarav hummed.

"Why don't we go for a road trip? You and me." Hritika wriggled her eyebrows.

"How about we spend the whole day together at home? Like watch movies and all?" He suggested. He was too indolent to go out on a Sunday.

"No no, Aarav. Let's go out." She said getting up from the cozy position they were settled in. It was 12 in the midnight and they were resting in each other's arms.

"Please, Aarav."

A smirk played on Aarav's lips as his eyes lit up with amusement "And what do I get in return, dear wife?"

"Whatever you want!" She said without thinking twice.

"Okay, busy bee, your night is mine then." He smiled evilly.

Hritika rolled her eyes while trying hard to suppress the blush and the smile that's threatening to break out.

Aarav pulled her to him and hovered over her.

"Don't roll your eyes at me, baby. It makes me want to do all the unholy things to you."

Hritika gulped at the proximity. Even though they have shared more intimate moments, where she has luxuriated every seconds of pleasure, she still found this affect her. Way too much.

His eyes roamed all her face finally settling on her lips and then on her eyes.

"Move." Hritika tried to say but it was hardly audible.

"Come again?"

She gathered all her courage "Move, y-you dirty minded man!!" She pushed him and sat up.

He was laughing "fiesty much?"

She glared at him.

"What? You hit me! It hurt!" Aarav feigned hurt.

"Really? Really? Did it?" She dramatically punched him again and he started tickling her.

"St-sto-stop eh eh it!" She loudly laughed. Now she was on top of him and she started tickling him.

"Hritika, stop.. enough!" His laughter boomed through the room.

With a swift movement, she suddenly was under him, both of them laughing. When their laughter calmed down, they looked at each other. Each pair of eyes adoring the other's.

He kissed the tip of her nose, then her lips.

She held his face in her palms "I love you."

He kissed her cheek "I love you more."

She protested "no I do!"

"Na-uh. I do." He said resting his back on the bed beside her.

She flipped, resting half of her body on his "I do!!"

"Mrs. Malhotra, sleep." He sweetly said tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"But you accept the fact that I love you more right?"

"Sleep, love. Your road trip? Remember? You won't be able to wake up."

"You'll go?" Her eyes lit up with amusement.

Aarav hummed closing his eyes, feeling sleepy.

He felt her lips on his cheek "thank you."

"Goodnight beautiful." He said kissing the crown of her head.

She held him tightly, luxuriating his warmth which comforted her, she felt extremely sleepy.

He caressed her head smiling, he whispered "I love you more, babe."

She wanted to protest but her subconscious mind wouldn't let her as she fell into deep slumber.

It was 5 in the morning, Hritika enthusiastically stepped into her Maserati, switching the car on.

"Aarav hurry!!" She called.

A few moments later, Aarav appeared, yawning as he slowly walked to the car.

"Come on! I don't wanna miss the sunrise from atop the hill!" She exclaimed.

Aarav yawned again.

"Ugh. You're going to bore me." Hritika complained before starting driving.

Soon Aarav fell asleep while Hritika calmly drove through the highway, she felt elated. Amidst the hustle she witnesses all day for her work, now she felt peace.

As soft music played, she enjoyed the air playing with her hair. An effortless smile appeared on her face. She felt so happy, so grateful, so grateful for life.

The sunrise was predicted to be observed at ten minutes past six, it was five minutes to six. She sped up cursing beneath her breath for being late.

Alas, when she reached the hilltop, the sun was already peeking out.

"Ugh.." she groaned. Her mood changed. She felt miserable. She wanted to watch this so bad.

A minute ago she was so grateful for life, wasn't she? And suddenly she's sad over this. She thought that to herself, chuckling at herself before she turned to Aarav.

He was still sleeping holding onto his jacket, his hair messily falling on his forehead. The new sun casting a orange hue over his skin.

She caressed his face before pecking his cheek. His eyes fluttered "Have we reached?"

Damn his morning voice. Hritika's heart skipped on a beat as this came unpredicted.

"Yes. We've reached awhile ago. And.."

He raised his eyebrow.

"I missed the sunrise." Hritika huffed.

"Don't be sad about it, I will accompany you here whenever you want okay? Next time we'll come early." He said pulling her into a hug.

"I'm not sad about it.. I was."

"And what made you change that pretty mind of yours?"

"As cheesy as it might sound...um.. it was.. um.. a view.." she said while smiling shyly.

"What view?"

Hritika laughed a bit "you. You sleeping."

Aarav shook his head laughing, his cheeks turning the light shade of pink.

"We have a long way from here, right?" Aarav asked.

"Yeah! Are you excited?"

"I'm probably gonna sleep again." Aarav laughed.

"Don't sleep or you'll have to sleep forever." Hritika threatened.

Aarav put his hands up, surrendering.

They chatted along with humming to the songs they love. Hritika's bad vocals made Aarav laugh to an extent that he was crying.

"Yeah yeah, you're the singer. I'm not. Don't tease me like that."

Aarav couldn't reply as he was busy laughing, though he wanted to protest that he didn't feel like it but he couldn't, he was laughing too hard.

They had their brunch in a roadside restuarant, Hritika loved how Aarav fed her and how he'd peck her lips every now and then.

"You're so cute. Why are you so cute?" Hritika laughed.

"No baby, I'm hot, sexy demon as the ladies call me." He stood up to give her a better view.

"You're cute. C-U-T-E."

"Nah."

"Fuck you!"

"Sure." Aarav said making Hritika scoff at it.

The day passed, bringing joy and more joy. Sun was setting, a orange hue spread across wherever eyes wander.

Aarav was driving now. Hritika was looking out of the window, her hair flowing with the air, her scarf, tied to her hand, waving bye to the shrubs. She sighed.

"What's wrong?" Aarav asked.

"I was just thinking.."

"Hmm?"

"How suddenly things changed, no?"

"Like?"

"Like if someone would have told me a few months back that I'd be with you, this happy, I'd have dismissed them. It feels surreal. You know this is how I used to dream. Me happy, with... You." She sighed again. Softly.

His hands squeezed her palm assuringly. "It might be surreal, but it's true. We were meant to be. I love you. I love everything about you. And I'll love you forever. Even when your hair will be graying and you will need a stick for standing." He laughed softly. "Your love is my painkiller. My only healer."

She held his face in her palm. "I love you too." She moved towards him to kiss him.

"We're putting ourselves in great danger." He laughed "we shouldn't.. when we're driving.." he spoke between the kiss while his eyes still on the road.

She pulled away slowly "yeah. I don't wanna die soon."

"I won't let you."

Darkness started dominating the sky. The streets became calmer, more peaceful.

"And.. we've reached." Aarav said. He looked towards her to find she was sleeping with her hair adoring her face.

He looked at her "oh what you've done to me." He murmured.

He kissed her jaw "wake up, love. We've reached. We've to go back home too."

Her eyes fluttered a bit before hugging him, clutching on to his shirt "let me sleep."

He hosted her up on his arms supporting her head and legs with his hands and slowly, carefully took her out of the car as he walked towards the hilltop.

When he was there, he called again "wake up, watch that."

She woke up rubbing her eyes with her lose fist. She looked at the view and then at Aarav and then again at the view before her eyes went saucers.

"You're gonna throw me?" She yelled.

"What?"

"Why're you holding me?"

Aarav laughed at her questions "no silly, you were sleeping. Now enjoy. This is what you kept me awake the whole Sunday for."

She now calmly looked into the space, small green hills, greenery welcoming them. A stream can be heard but it's not visible. An animal is making noises near a distance. A nightingale singing. As she looked up she observed a sky full of starts. She gasped.

"You see that?"

Aarav hummed.

The moon was in his full glory as if..as if adoring them with his light.

Hritika observed everything in awe.

"Thank you Aarav, for coming with me, here."

Aarav kissed the crown of her head in response. He held her tightly, rubbing her arm making her feel warm. She snuggled closer to him.

She kissed his chest over his shirt.

They stayed there for a while until it was pitch dark and the place looked almost deserted.

"Let's go back, shall we?" Hritika nodded getting up.

They drove all night, when they got back home it was almost five minutes past three in the morning.

Hritika was sleeping peacefully while Aarav was yawning, struggling to stay awake.

When they reached home, he carried her to their room and placed her on the bed, putting the covers on her. Meanwhile he took a shower and changed himself.

He, then, put the covers on himself and slept, not before pulling Hritika to himself.

He kissed her cheek "Goodnight, love."
