I HAVE A LITTLE SISTER!

I still can't believe it. Mom was pregnant when she left. Did she know she was? Was that the reason she left?

Ever since I heard the news, I haven't been able to stop smiling. Maya is 16, which means she is the closest in age to me, maybe someone will finally want to help me prank everyone.

She is going to be my little codelinquente (partner in crime) I can't wait!

After Maya went upstairs with dad, Daniel turned to Lucas, Martín and me. "She had a panic attack this morning and passed out. We don't know what caused it but just be carefull around her, we don't want to upset her okay?"

Martín is the first to say something, "She had a panic attack? My poor baby."

A panic attack? Is she okay? Atleast she had dad and Daniel there with her, no one should have to go through a panic attack alone.
The moment when you can't get air into your lungs, as much as you try to breath in. That's when the real panic sets in.

I quickly put the biggest smile I can muster back on my face before anyone sees it dropped. "At least she is here with us now! We will make her feel like this is her home and where she belongs."

"Who's going to talk to Mateo?" comes from Lucas next to me. Shit, I completely forgot Mateo existed for a second.

Martín answers after a few seconds of silence, "I'll go talk to him."

"Just make sure he is there at dinner and apologises for the way he was acting before." says Daniel. What he says, goes. No debating.

I just hope Mateo is okay, one of us should have told him.

After playing a few videogames in the gameroom, I notice its almost dinner time. I go downstairs to see dad already sitting at the table.

I go to my seat but before I can sit down he says "Hugo, can you get your sister from her room upstairs? It's almost dinner time." I nod and walk upstairs.

When I enter the hall with all of our rooms, I walk to her's situated at the end of the hallway right in between dad's and Daniel's rooms.

"Can I come in?" I ask while I knock on the door. Stupid, she won't answer you.
I knock again, "I'm coming in."

I open the door and when I look around the room with only neutrals and minimum furniture, we really need to change some stuff about this room, it's way too boring. I see her laying on the bed with her headphones on her head.

It looks like she is sleeping. "Maya?" No reaction.
"Are you awake?" Again, no reaction.

I walk over to her and try to gently shake her awake but as soon as my hand makes contact with her shoulder, she freezes and shoots up, looking around her wildly.

I put my hands up "okay, okay. Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you. Dinner is ready, come downstairs with me?"

After she takes a few deep breaths, she looks at me, no not at me, at something behind me. Like she is afraid to directly look at me or something. Maya gives a small nod and gets up out of bed.

💫 Maya 💫

Hugo woke me up, it was Hugo. He won't hurt me. He is not the same as him
But how can I know that for sure when I don't even know these people at all.

I walk behind him, down the stairs and into the dining room where everyone has already take their place around the dining room table. It's a big table but there are only seven seats with plates.

That can't be right. There must be another person who lives here. I can't eat at the same table as them. I never eat at the same table as other people. Eating at the dinner table is only for those who earn the money in the house.

After Hugo takes a seat, there is one place left next to Álvaro and across from Daniel. I wonder who will sit there. After a few seconds I hear a voice.

"Maya, mi amore. Sit down please." Álvaro says while pointing to the chair next to him.
"It's okay, this is your seat from now on. Everyone has an assigned seat at the dinner table but Lucas didn't mind changing his so you can sit here."

After another few moments of standing there I decide I will just do as he says. As I sit down, I feel tears prickling my eyes but I push them back.

Why is everything changing so much? Why must everything get screwed up like this. Life was good, and now everything is different.

A/N - seating arrangement:
                    Álvaro
Daniel                        Maya
Mateo                        Martín
Hugo                          Lucas

There are a few pots and pans on the middle of the table, I have no idea what's in them. It looks like some sort of pasta with red sauce.

All the boys start serving themselves but I just sit there, staring at my plate. After everyone has started eating I hear a voice coming from two seats next to me.

"Mariposa, are you not hungry?" It surprises me that it's Lucas talking. From what I've heard about him from Daniel he doesn't talk that much. I just lightly shake my head.

"How about you just eat a little bit?" Álvaro says "You have to eat at least something." I nod and the next thing I know Daniel is serving a little bit of the amazing smelling food on my plate.

I'm not used to eating a lot, but this much seems do-able. It's about the size of my fist. I start to eat and the next time is filled with chatter between the boys and Álvaro. But I can still feel a pair of eyes on me and when I look up quickly, I notice it's Mateo.

When everyone is finished, I notice my stomach is starting to feel weird and hurting a little.
"Good job mi amore. Now you are finished, I like to go over some houserules. Nothing severe, just so you know what you can expect everyone to do at home."

I give him a small nod while looking at my empty plate.
"Okay first off, no one can force you to talk. If you don't want to say something, don't feel like you have to but know you can always say anything you have on your mind.
Next up, we would like it to see your beautifull eyes more often. So if you want to look us in the eyes, please don't be afraid to do so.
As I told you before, we have maids and cooks for everything. You never need to do anything in the house. That means no cooking and no cleaning or anything.
Lastly, you are our equal. That means you can ask or tell us anything. We are excited to have you with us and can't wait for you to be comfortable with us and be part of this family."

That's a lot to take in. Part of this family? That sounds nice, I just don't know how to be a part of a family. I'm starting to think I've never really had one before.

My stomach feels like it's about to explode, what is going on?

🔞 Mateo 🔞

I still don't know how to act towards her. Martín came into my room to talk to me. He apologised for not telling me what was going on and asked what was going on. I just told him I don't want a sister.

But twin-telepathy never lies I guess, because he somehow knew I was not telling the truth. After him prying for a few minutes I caved and told him about all my fears of not being able to be there for her.

He assured me it will be okay and that we all need to adjust how we act at home. No one is used to having a girl here.

Throughout dinner, everyone was chit-chatting about anything and everything. I hate it. Let me eat in peace.

No matter how much I tried to focus on my food, my eyes kept drifting to Maya. Looking so fragile and broken in the too big seat.

Dad was droning on and on about school or some shit to Maya but it doesn't look like she is listening. Her not-broken arm is on her stomach and it looks like she is about to be sick.

"Maya, are you okay?" I try to get her attention. When I say it, everyone's attention goes to Maya. "Mi amore, are you not feeling well? What's wrong?"

Before anyone else can ask something, she stands up and runs away. What the hell?
