Chapter 4: Never Losing ... Well ... Almost

Driving Moe, and Diabolo to the rodeo was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Russell loaded up Diabolo first, then I loaded up Moe. No problems. Now pulling up at the rodeo, I almost notice how I said almost, squealed. The fair had booths, a few small rides, and tons of FOOD!!! My mom parked the trailer, and I unloaded Moe.

"Stay close," Russell says. I glare at him, and go to argue when my mom pipes in,

"Oh honey, she'll be fine. But Isabella sweetheart, make sure Moe's warm before you run him."

Russell looks at my mother, and doesn't argue, and I nod my head, and begin unbraiding Moe's braids. After finishing,I put my foot in the stirrup, I pull myself on Moe's back and click my tongue, telling him to go. Weaving through the crowd, I smile when I see a familiar horse in the crowd.

"Rebecca!!!" I shout. Rebecca an old friend of mine before I was sent to camp.

"Zee!!!" She shouts, and I jump off Moe and hug her, "Where have you been?! You look good!"

"Boot camp, and thanks," I reply.

"Boot Camp? How old are you?" She asks.

"17."

"Oh yeah, I forget that were not the same age," she replies face palming herself.

Rebecca was (4) years younger than me.

"Oh! You've got to meet my boyfriend!!!" She exclaims.

"Boyfriend? But she's like 11!" I think.

She walks over to a guy who's eating cotton candy next to her horse Dexter. His hair was brown, shaggy, and it came down to about his ears, with a little curl like he always wore a hat. She links arms with him, and practically drags him towards me.

"Izzy, this Sam, Sam this is Izzy!" Rebecca says excitedly.

I hold out my hand for Sam to shake. Up close I could see his eyes clearly now, and now noticed his eyes were hazel. He goes to shake my hand, but then glances at his hand which is covered with cotton candy. He wipes off his hand, but doesn't shake my hand.

"I don't bite," I say. Sam blushes, and shakes my hand.

"N-Nice t-to meet you," he stutters.

I go to reply when the announcer's voice booms overhead,

"All competitors head to the arena!"

"We've got to go B," I say climbing back on Moe.

"I know, bye Sammy, I'll see you after," she says climbing on Dexter, and leaning down to give Sam a kiss.

I turn Moe, and kick him towards the arena, Rebecca close behind.
I reach the arena, and see only a few riders, about 9, including Russell. The poles are set out, so poles are first. I glance at my mom who's in the stands, and catch Sam sitting next to a guy who's about my age, and next to a guy who I would guess to be his dad. We sing the national anthem, and the rodeo begins. (I am well aware that poles are not part of rodeos, but I wanted to put them in there for the heck of it). Rebecca is up first, and I'm second to last.

* El Time Skipo - Brought to you by Sam's "Sticky" situation 😉 *

Its my turn, and me, and Moe run a 15 flat. Russell's the last one, and runs a 14:9. He smirks at me, and Diabolo snorts at Moe. Geeze those two are perfect for each other. Next is calf roping. I grab my rope, and make sure its loose. I had arranged to have myself compete with the guys, because I honestly think its unfair to separate girls, and guys. I'm last out of the guys, and head out into the arena. I back Moe in the corner of the pen, next to the calf shoot, and wait till the calf is released. The calf's released, and Moe runs after it. I rope the calf, and jump off Moe's back. Grabbing the calf, I slam him body to the ground with a loud "thud", and tie his legs together. The calf struggles against the bonds, but remains tied. I stand up breathing hard, and look toward the announcer's booth.

"12:9 by miss Isabella Lopez!" The crowd goes wild, I had beaten all the guys.

Russell's calf escaped from the tie he had put on him. I dust my jeans off, and fix my French braid, then climb back on Moe, and take my rope from the rodeo clown. (That's actually the only kind of clown I'm not afraid of lol!!!)  Smirking at Russell on the way by, and Moe snorts at Diabolo. Wonder how they like their own medicine?

* Another El Time Skipo - Brought to you by being lazy like always*

Every one else had already done their barrel racing. Russell being the only guy, (in the barrel racing category) got to go first. He, and Diabolo ran a 14 flat (That's 14 seconds in case you didn't know, as well as all the other times). I was last again since I had signed up late. Taking deep breaths me, and Moe enter the arena once more. The lights over the arena turned on with huge buzzes, and clicks. I look to Rebecca who gives me a thumbs up, and then to my Mom who smiles, and nods at me. I turn Moe in a circle, and then were off. Kicking Moe we turn around the first barrel, then quickly the second, and finally the last. We round the last barrel, and I kick Moe.

"Bring him home!!!" My mom yells.

Moe runs as fast as his legs will go. We cross the finish line, and I turn him in another circle, and stop him. I look towards the booth again, and wait for my time.

"Ladies, and Gentlemen, please put your hands together for miss Isabella Lopez, for breaking her old record, AND for being our winner tonight, with a time of 13:7!!!"

I almost scream, 13:7?! I jump off Moe, and hug his neck.

"Good Boy!!!" I kiss his nose, and hug my mom who appeared behind me.

"Great run!" She says. Rebecca comes over with Sam, and hugs me.

"You guys were great!!!" I thank her, and concentrate on the guy that was sitting by Sam.

He was about a good 5 inches taller than me, and had dark spiky hair, but the thing that stood out the most were his apple green eyes, that stuck out like a sore thumb.

"Nice ride," he tells me.

"Thanks, you ride?"

"Does a 67 impala count?" He ask giving me a cocky grin.

"No ... Wait! You have a 67 impala?!" I asks dumbfounded.

"Well my dad does," he says pointing at the guy who was sitting by him, and Sam, "I wouldn't take you to be a girl who liked cars." I blush.

"My grandpa had a 68 Camaro, which my mom has now." He stares in awe, so I decide to change the subject.

"Is Sam your brother?" I ask. He nods his head.

"Yeah, and I'm Dean, Dean Winchesters" he says, and holds out his hand.

I accept it, and shake it roughly.

"Dang hell of a grip you got there," Dean says.

"Sorry," I blush, "I've been at boot camp the past two years."

"Boot camp?" He says raising an eyebrow.

"I ran away from home, because of my mom's boyfriend Russell," I begin.

"The dude that rode earlier?" He ask. I nod, and continue,

"My mom was really disappointed, and sent me to boot camp, I've been home for three days now."

"Well welcome back Isabella!" He says smiling.

"Its Izzy, or my friends call me Zee," I explain, "Only my parents or other adults call me Isabella."

"Oh ... Okay then Zee, its nice to meet you," Dean says with a cocky grin, and in that moment, I knew I liked Dean Winchester.
