Hueningkai had no idea who the man holding him up was but he wasn't as evil as he had thought. Hueningkai couldn't feel his legs and was feeling extremely dizzy. His lips became chapped, it was getting harder to breathe and he had no strength to escape he couldn't focus his vision either, this was hell, he was really dying.
"Hey hey ok you said water right?!" Mr Kang was worried about the boy he was holding. Ever since he got him he looked sick, but he had figured it would wear off, it didn't. Earlier the boy struggled to say one word 'water' Mr Kang knew mermen obviously needed water so they stopped at a gas station to get watee bottles.
   Mr Kang held the water bottle to hueningkais lips but Hueningkai was losing focus. "Hey hey, water here uhhh dammit what' should I do?! Are you alright, i-ill call a doctor."Mr Kang pulled his phone out to dial 911.
     "STOP THE CAR!" Taehyun screeched from the backseat. Soobin slammed on the brakes, sending everyone forward harshly. "what?!!what is it?" Yeonjun asked. "My dad's car! Right there! That gas station hurry!!" Taehyun pointed and Soobin immediately pulled the car over and stepped out of the car with fury. Yeonjun only saw the tip of brown hair in the backseat of the car ahead of them. He felt bad. He knew Hueningkai dried up faster than him, he should have swam more yesterday..
       Beomgyu and Taehyun unbuckled and ran out. Taehyun ran to his father. "DAD WHAT THE HELL??!! YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM YOU CANT JUST KIDNAP LIVING CREATURES!!" Taehyun raged at his dad while soobin opened Mr kangs car door. "I know I know I'm sorry, I wanted to bring him to my convention to show them but when he got here he was- asking for water and he was sick and the water didn't fix him and-" Taehyun shut him up. "SEA WATER DAD, THEY NEED SEA WATER HE DIES IF HES OUT TOO LONG!!" the father and son continued to bicker while beomgyu took me Kang phone call over.
     "Yes hello I'm sorry my uncle is unstable please ignore the call thank you." Beomgyu hung up, and opened his own cars seat to help soobin get Hueningkai.
     "Kai...Kai come on please, it's soobin." Soobin gently put a hand on kais half conscious face, his eyes were drooped and he wasn't focusing. Soobin felt terrified as he lifted the boy, he could barely feel him breathing. "GO GO ILL STAY WITH HIM!" Taehyun gestured to his dad as the others got back in the car. "I'll drive." Yeonjun said, obviously seeing that soobin was holding Kai in the backseat. Yeonjun got in the driver's seat, trying to stay composed, and started driving. Beomgyu had gotten in the passenger seat and was giving him directions to the nearest beach.
    "Soo-" Hueningkai tried to say soobin but failed. He didn't even know if it was soobin, everything was blurry. Soobin held his hand. "Yes yes, im soobin!were almost there!!!" Yeonjun stopped the car in the beach parking lot and opened the door for them. He saw a car rushing behind them and started to panick, who the hell were they? Soobin lifted Hueningkai and felt his heart drop when Kai went limp, arm draping down.
     "HEY!" Thomas was the car behind them, he had only seen the boys escape with the merman he captured for Mr Kang so all he thought he was supposed to do was get them back.
    Beomgyu ran at the guy to stop him from interrupting soobin. "STOP NO!!" beomgyu swung at the guy. Yeonjun got in the water and grabbed hueningkais legs, dipping them in as soobin lowered the rest of his body.
   Soobin wasnt scared of the water right now. He was begging it to help Hueningkai. He held his breath and went underwater.
Hueningkai wasn't transforming right away....nonono nonono!!soobin started crying and held Kai. 'please I'll never be scared of water if you just fix him please!!' he thought In his head. His crying let his air bubbles escape as he hugged Hueningkai tight. Yeonjun watched, now transformed underwater.
     Soobin couldn't stop himself for thinking that he would never see Hueningkai again. They would never find a cure, and Hueningkai had already stolen his thoughts with that one kiss. Soobin was planning on ways of asking Hueningkai if he liked guys, he was pretty confident seeing as he didn't have trouble kissing him that day. Now...now he would never get to ask him, swim with him, talk to him. He thought he was a merman for a second because the sharp breathes in-between tears were painful, like he couldn't breath.
    A soft hand gently rested on soobins back. Soobin rushed his head back and took in a view he never knew he could miss so much. Hueningkais tail had appeared, golden and shimmering. Thank God....thank the ocean. ...thank mermen...thank anything!! Soobin went up for air, bringing Hueningkai up. "Soobin." Hueningkai said, now he could finish saying his name and he could see soobins face. Soobin never thought he would feel that happy at someone calling his name.
    Yeonjun came up as soon as he saw Hueningkai move. He was relieved. He didn't get to see the two much longer because he heard a slam. Beomgyu was fighting a giant thug looking man by the cars, and got slammed on the hood of one.
   Yeonjun raced away from soobin and kai to help beomgyu. Yeonjun grabbed a metal beach chair and hit Thomas in the head as hard as he could, Thomas was passed out. Beomgyu was wincing against the hood. "Are you alright????" Yeonjun looked over beomgyus body, he didn't seem bad like last time, good. "My arm is broken..." Beomgyu wasn't sobbing but tears were falling because breaking a bone fucking hurts.
     "It's alright well get you to a hospital. Hueningkai is alright." Yeonjun said, gently helping beomgyu up. Beomgyu got a gentle hug from Hueningkai. "You know...there were water bottles in my room." Beomgyu smiled. Hueningkai laughed and hit him. "AH AISH WATCH THE ARMMMMM!!!" Beomgyu winced and Hueningkai started apologizing. Yeonjun looked around for soobin, finding him walking towards Thomas.
    "Soobin, don't." Yeonjun held soobins arms. Soobin contained himself. "Taehyun had a good reason to make us his that day....mermen are dangerous to even themselves..If stealing someone else's soul Is a cure for them then they should steal this pricks!!" Soobin was angry, he admitted. But more than anything he wanted to find a way to stop yeonjun's predator and be able to go on long trips without worrying about- he didnt even want to think of what Hueningkai had looked like when they were out of water too long.
      "I know you want to help, but remember, to steal a soul, to give one, simply a kiss, Sharing air, all of those involve kissing. Do you really think we want to kiss that guy? And stealing someone's soul is awful, I don't want to steal another person's soul just to be human. Being a merman isn't bad anymore, it's fun when you guys are around. I'm sure Taehyun can find another way." Yeonjun's words somewhat comforted soobin. "...yeah...ok youre right." Soobin nodded. He didn't think of it from the mermans view.
     "The secret is out, we should go to Taehyuns house and talk things over." Yeonjun walked back to beomgyu and Hueningkai with soobin following.
