Chapter 3:

(y/n) pov

That might have been one of the most embarrassing and one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Edmund cradled me in his arms, comforting me, he kissed my forehead! After we spoke a while more, I remembered that I needed to talk to Lu, I'm sure she wasn't feeling great about the whole situation that happened with her siblings. I turned my head up to Edmund, "I have to go see Lucy, she probably isn't very happy about earlier," I whispered. He nodded and set me down gently.

He didn't seem very happy about me leaving but I had to see Lu. I smiled and kissed his cheek gently, blushing a lot. "Thank you," I whispered in his ear, before running out of the room. I can't believe I did that! I had more things to worry about though as I ran to the girls' room. Lucy was sat with a teddy bear that I'm pretty sure she stole from my room, Susan was reading a book on her bed and the rain was still crashing outside. I knocked on the door, "Hi you guys, Lu, can I talk to you for a minute in my room?"

She gave me a bright smile and ran to take my hand, I smiled back and we went to sit on my bed. My smile got more gentle as I shut the door, I sat at the head of my bed, leaning against the headboard. I pulled Lucy up to sit with me, she wrapped her arms around my waist and laid her head on my chest. "I'm so sorry your siblings didn't believe you Lu. And I'm sorry I didn't say anything to defend you." I told her, she smiled and hugged me tighter.

I chuckled and hugged her back, "I think I know why Narnia wasn't there," I told her. She looked up at me, her eyes in wonder, "Why?" She asked. I laughed again, "Your siblings might not be quite ready to go to Narnia yet, the wardrobe is waiting for the right time to let them in. But I'll tell you what, let's see if we can go back to Narnia tonight?" Lucy's eyes sparkled. She nodded her head rapidly and I held her tighter and laughed at her excitement.

"We can see Mr Tumnus again?" She asked me enthusiastically, I giggled and nodded, "Of course, but first I need to tell you something that happened in Narnia," I began. She looked at me anxiously, before nodding at me to continue. I started my story, about how everything felt familiar, how everything felt like a dream, or a dream of a dream. I told her about the lamp post and how I seemed to melt the frost away. I told her that the fireplace may have been my doing. About how I could hear the trees. By the end of my story, Lu looked at me in awe.

"You're magic!" Lucy cried, my eyes widened and I shushed her, her siblings couldn't find out, especially Edmund. He'd hate me, think I was a freak. "I don't know what happened in the forest, Mr Tumnus told me he would explain more the next time we went there." Lucy had her mouth covered after I shushed her but I could tell she was grinning widely, "Just go to sleep like normal tonight and I'll come and wake you up to go." I told her, my voice lowered to a whisper. She nodded and we went down stairs for dinner.

Time Skip~

All throughout dinner, the Professor was glancing at me, a knowing look on his face. Another person who kept looking at me was Edmund, but considering what happened earlier, I'm not surprised. I felt myself blushing the whole meal. Finally, we were allowed to return to our nightly activities, I gave the Professor a peck on the cheek to say goodnight, Lucy grabbing my hand as we walked back up to her room. I tucked Lu into bed, her siblings apparently having something better to do, before heading to my own room.

I looked up at the grandfather clock on the wall, it was seven o'clock, I would have to wait until the other Pevensies were asleep before I could wake the youngest. Ten o'clock might be the best time. So I sat and I waited, I read books and waited, I looked out the window and waited. Honestly, I was getting tired myself, but I had to know, who was I? Really? Everybody seemed to know but me. Tumnus, the Professor, I would have to talk to the Professor as well, maybe when we get back, I do usually see him tonight to talk anyways.

I'd been waiting anxiously for so long, that the moment I stopped just waiting to think it was quarter past ten. I stood from my bed, grabbed a pair of boots and my dressing gown, before going into the girls' room once again to get Lu. "Lucy," I whispered, shaking her gently, "Lu, it's time to go," I told her quietly, trying not to wake Susan. Eventually, she roused from her blissful sleep, she rubbed her eyes with her fists and I mentally awed at her cuteness. I grabbed her boots and dressing gown, as well as a candle to light the way.

Lu was still half asleep so I got her boots on and made sure her dressing gown was tied tightly, before grabbing her hand and gently leading her down the hallway to the spare room. I heard a toilet flush and footsteps from down the hall, someone was awake! I hurried Lu along to the wardrobe and gave her the candle. I opened the wardrobe door and we waited, for a sign that Narnia was there. We watched with baited breath as the candle was blown out by a crisp winter breeze. I smiled at Lu and we went inside.

Edmund pov

I walked out of the bathroom and saw a glow from a candle down the hallway. I followed the glow to the spare room that Lucy and (y/n) had shown us earlier. I hid behind the wall so that whoever they were couldn't see me, I looked into the room and saw that it was (y/n) and Lucy. What were they up to? The glow was extinguished and the girls walked into the wardrobe. What are they doing? We checked the wardrobe and it was empty aside from a few coats, why would they go into an empty wardrobe?

I followed them into the wardrobe, "(y/n), Lucy. I hope you two aren't afraid of the dark," I muttered, shutting the wardrobe door behind me. I kept walking, but I didn't reach the back of the wardrobe, I didn't find the girls either. "(y/n)? Lucy?" I kept walking only to trip and land face first in... snow? This can't be possible. I stood up and looked around, completely amazed by what I saw, there was in fact, a winter forest in the back of an old wardrobe.

"Lucy? Lucy I think I believe you now!" I shouted into the blank carpeted forest. I couldn't see the girls but I think I was beginning to hear bells, light jingling sleigh bells. "Lucy?" I asked again, looking for the source of the noise. I heard the crack of a whip and a voice yelling, I then heard the cause of the racket, being forced to jump out of the way and into the snow to avoid being ran over by a silvery white sleigh. A short figure jumped down from the sleigh and wrapped a whip around my legs, dropping down next to me and shoving a knife against my throat.

I began to panic, looking to the... dwarf? He was a dwarf, no time for that! I began to struggle against the dwarf, very wary of the cold steel against my throat. I heard a voice from the sleigh, an icy cold but feminine voice, "What is it Ginarrbrick?" She asked. I shouted in response, "He won't let go!" The knife was pushed further by the dwarf, who glared at me before asking threateningly, "Is that how you address the Queen of Narnia?" Queen? It's not like I knew and I voiced my thoughts.

The knife was pressed more and I knew I was close to death but then, "Wait!" The woman in the sleigh ordered. I watched, terrified as a beautiful but sharp looking woman stood from her seat. Her looks matched her voice perfectly, she was dressed in white furs and her cold blue eyes looked down on me. I knew now that I was in the presence of royalty. "What is your name, son of Adam?" She asked me, still maintaining a threatening aura. I felt compelled to answer almost instantly, "Edmund, y-your majesty," I stammered.

The Queen nodded slightly, "And how was it, Edmund, that you came to enter my dominion?" She sounded a bit frightened to be honest, like she was scared I was here, I was more scared to be here! "I was following my sister and our friend through a wardrobe-" I was cut off by the Queen, "Your sister? How many are you?" She asked me, her voice becoming more quiet. I answered her, telling her that I was one of four siblings. Her face relaxed slightly and she smiled warmly at me.

"Edmund," She said, "You look so cold! Come and sit with me in my sled." That sounded like more of an order than an offer and I didn't want to anger the dwarf again, so I joined her in the sleigh, I sat with her and she wrapped her fur cloak around the both of us. "Now, would you like something warm to drink?" She asked me, I wasn't sure I should trust her but I didn't want to upset or anger her. "Yes, y-your majesty," I said again, almost forgetting the 'your majesty'.

Her smile held up and she pulled out a vial of something and taps it over the side of the sleigh, into the snow. I saw a green drop of... something, before the snow grew into a steaming chalice of hot chocolate. The dwarf called me 'Sire' as he gave me the drink. "How did you do that?" I asked, taking a sip of the hot chocolate, it was delicious. "I can make anything you like," She told me, I looked up from my drink quickly. "Could you make me taller?" I asked abruptly.

The woman laughed, "Anything you'd like to eat," She corrected. I had an idea to test, "Turkish Delight?" I asked curiously, she smiled again and once again a drop of green stuff fell to the ground, creating a wrapped up box of Turkish Delight. The dwarf handed it to me and I began messily stuffing my face. The Queen wiped my face with the dwarf's hat and told me sweetly, "I'd love to meet your family," I immediately became more sullen. "Why?" I asked her, "They're nothing special," So what if I was a bit harsh? I was right.

The Queen, sighing, began, "I have no children of my own and you are such a delightful boy, I could see, one day, you becoming prince of Narnia - maybe even King." She told me. King? Me? I could make my siblings do whatever I wanted, I could make (y/n) my queen, she would love that. My mouth was full as I answered, "Really?" I asked. She told me that I would have to bring my family as well, "Oh, will Peter be king too?" I asked, glum. She laughed and shook her head, she told me that a king needed servants.

She told me where her house was, that it had rooms stuffed with Turkish Delight, I asked, "Couldn't I have some more now?" Suddenly, the grin left her face and her features became more sharp and angry. "No!" I jumped slightly, startled. The Queen closed her eyes and smiled again, "I don't want you to ruin your appetite, I'm going to miss you Edmund," She told me, her finger brushing over my cheek, but it wasn't as warm or pleasant as when (y/n) did it. "But we are going to see each other soon."

"I hope so," I told her, leaving the sleigh, the dwarf still watching me wearily. She smiled again, "Until then, dear one." She said as the sleigh shot off and out of sight. "Edmund?" Lucy? I turned and saw Lucy and (y/n) holding hands. (y/n) looked at me shocked, probably confused as to why I was here, I was shocked and a bit embarrassed to see her in her pyjamas and dressing gown. "Oh Edmund!" Lucy let go of (y/n)'s hand and ran over to hug me. My eyes were still on (y/n) and the necklace now hanging around her neck.

Did she have that before?

(y/n) pov

Me and Lucy walked the path to Tumnus' house, pausing every now and then because Lucy asked me to try and use my magic again. "(y/n)! Try and get rid of the frost on this tree!" She demanded, I chuckled and walked over the the tree she was pointing at. "Lu, I don't even know how I did it the first time, I just sort of-" I stopped as I touched the tree and, once again, the frost evaporated instantly.

I heard a wispy sigh of relief, "Lucy, was that you?" I turned, but Lucy was already greeting Tumnus a little ways away. "Hello?" I whispered, "I think I'm talking to a tree," I mumbled, I think I am losing my mind. I felt water drip on the top of my head, I looked up to see that not only had I gotten rid of the frost on the bark of the tree, the snow covering the branches of the fir tree had all been melted and was now water droplets. "Thank you, Dear Phoenix," It was the trees again, or more specifically, this tree.

"I haven't been warm in a long time, but you need to hurry inside, the Witch is on her way," The tree told me, I heard a gasp from behind me and Tumnus came rushing up to me and the tree, placing his hand on the now damp bark. I did the same, "I bear you a gift to thank you for releasing me from my cold prison, it will help you unlock your true potential." The voice told me, before the bark on the tree cracked slightly to reveal a flower bud. The bud opened up and in the flower's place, was a rose gold pendant, a glowing rose quarts in heart shaped metal plating. It had an odd symbol as well. "Tumnus, the tree told me that the Witch is coming," I told him quickly, taking the pendant just as swiftly.

Through his baffled daze, he nodded and shook himself out of it, he grabbed mine and Lucy's hands and dragged us into his home. We sat once more in front of the fireplace, it was good to know that Mr Tumnus was safe from the White Witch, apparently she didn't know about him helping us. We were sat drinking tea once again, Tumnus telling us other stories about fauns and dryads and centaurs and dwarfs. I asked if he would tell me about myself, as to why I knew this place as though I belonged here. He merely told me, "You do belong here," Before Lucy began to get sleepy and we had to get her back to bed.

We were on the way back to the lamp post and the wardrobe before we heard distant sleigh bells and saw a figure where we knew the entrance back to the Professor's house was. "Edmund?" Lucy asked, letting go of my hand to hug her brother. What was he doing here? At least he knows, now when we tell the other two Pevensies they'll believe us. "We saw Mr Tumnus again and he's fine!" Lucy exclaimed, the whole time she was talking, Edmund was looking at me, "The White Witch hasn't found out about him helping us!"

Edmund looked at Lu confused, "The White Witch?" He asked, I stepped forward to answer this point, "She calls herself the Queen of Narnia, but she's actually a witch who cursed Narnia with eternal winter." I told him, his face paling. I walked up to him, gently placing my hand on his pallid cheek, "Edmund, are you alright?" I asked gently, feeling the boy subconsciously lean into my hand. Lucy nodded, "Yes, you look awful," I tried to muffle a laugh but I think Edmund heard me because he got a bit mad.

"Well what do you expect!?" Edmund asked, "It's freezing! How do we get out of here?" Lucy and I giggled, Lu took my hand and I, in turn took Edmund's, as we led him out of the forest, into the wardrobe and out into the spare room once again. Lu immediately ran out of the wardrobe and to the boys' room, to wake Peter I presume. I was still holding Ed's hand, I quickly let go and covered my blushing face. I walked swiftly to the boys' room to find Lucy.

I walked in just in time to see Lucy jump on Peter to wake him up, "Peter, Peter wake up! It's there, it's really there!" She shouted, I knew the Professor and Mrs. Macready would be having words with me about controlling them. Peter was still half asleep as he asked, "Lucy, what are you talking about?" Poor Peter, I chuckled as I watched the event happen, Lucy still jumping up and down in excitement. "Narnia! It's all in the wardrobe, like I told you!" Susan probably heard the commotion and walked in, looking very tired.

"Lucy, you've been dreaming," Susan sighed, I had to close my eyes to try and relax before I got very angry, I felt my hands get warmer. Why couldn't they just trust her? Lucy looked up at her, "No I wasn't, we saw Mr Tumnus again, oh and this time, Edmund went too!" She smiled up at Edmund, who had appeared behind me. Peter also looked at him, "You saw the faun?" He asked, sceptical still. "Well he didn't actually go there with us," I told him, Lu smiling at me. Susan sighed and almost glared at me, "(y/n), you're a logical person, are you really encouraging this?" She asked, causing me to glare back with ferocity.

Lucy got more upset by the second, "(y/n) was there with me, but what were you doing Edmund?" She asked, looking at her older brother with a look that can't be described as anything other than hope. Edmund smiled and scoffed, "I-I was just playing along. You know what little children are like these days," What is he talking about? "They just don't know when to stop pretending." He finished, sitting on his bed and smiling to his siblings smugly. I shook my head as tears began to well up in Lucy's eyes. The candle next to Edmund's bed flickered dangerously.

Lucy began crying before she shot out of the room, I followed her as quickly as I could, the candle extinguishing behind me. Lucy ran through hallways and down staircases before running straight into the Professor. "Professor!" I yelped, Lucy turning around and burying her head in my chest. He nodded at me but looked concerned at the crying girl in my arms, I shook my head warily. The two elder Pevensies stopped behind me, causing me to turn and glare at them. "You children are one shenanigan shy of sleeping in the stable-" Mrs. Macready stopped short of her lecture.

"(y/n), Professor, I told them you were not to be disturbed." Of course, she thought I would be with the Professor tonight like usual. "Oh, it's alright Mrs. Macready, I'm sure there's a logical explanation. But I think this one needs some hot chocolate," The Professor told his housekeeper, motioning for Lucy to go with her. Lu looked up at me for permission, it seems I missed the scornful looks her older siblings gave me. I nodded for her to go with Mrs. Macready, "I'll take care of this love," I told her, winking.

Lucy gave me a watery smile as Mrs. Macready took her to the kitchen for some hot chocolate. The Professor then held his arm out to me, I smiled and linked arms with my father figure as he motioned for Peter and Susan to follow also. We sat in his study, the Professor sat at his desk taking out tobacco to put in his pipe and set down a steaming cup of hot chocolate for myself. I grinned and thanked him with a peck on the cheek. The Pevensies looked nervous as they sat in the two armchairs in front of his desk, I had a reserved seat next to the Professor.

"You seem to have upset the internal balance of my housekeeper," The Professor chided. Peter sighed before beginning, "We are very sorry Sir, it won't happen again," He apologised, the Professor nodded. Susan continued, "It's our sister Sir, Lucy." The Professor called her 'the weeping girl', to which I nodded sadly, confirming his statement. "Yes Sir," Susan said, "She's upset." I raised an eyebrow, "Hence the weeping." I shot at her. Peter looked at me indignantly, "We can handle it!" He commented, grabbing Susan's sleeve to try and leave.

"Oh I can see that," The Professor almost laughed. Susan tore her arm from Peter's grasp and continued, "She thinks she's found a magical land, in the upstairs wardrobe!" She exclaimed hopelessly. The Professor sat upright, astounded and looking at me. I nodded smiling. "What did you say?" He asked, breathless. I decided to jump in. "The wardrobe upstairs, in the spare room." He nodded and asked again, "What was it like?" I knew it! He knows about Narnia! My smile widened.

"Like talking to a lunatic!" Susan commented, seemingly tired. I glared at her once more, how dare she talk about her own sister that way!? The Professor insisted he meant the forest, not Lucy. "You-you actually believe her?" Peter asked confused. "You don't?" The Professor replied, I could feel a lecture coming and grinned a Cheshire smile. First he mocked Susan and her 'logic', asking what schools these days had taught them, then he mocked Edmund, asking why they believed him if he wasn't the most truthful of the four.

"Well then, if your sister isn't lying and isn't mad, then logically we must assume that she is telling the truth," He looked at me, silently asking if she was telling the truth, I nodded, smiling again. "She's your sister isn't she? You're a family! It's high time you start acting like one!" Yes Professor! Thank you! I stood up to leave, "I'm going to find Lucy, and to answer your question Professor, Narnia is absolutely beautiful," The siblings looked at me shocked as the Professor simply grinned, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Lucy will be with my in my room tonight, I don't think she'll want to be around you three for a while," I said coldly, glaring at them.

I walked down to the kitchen to find Lu, a chocolate moustache and a tired look in her eye, she was falling asleep at the counter. I smiled to Mrs. Macready, lifting a finger to my lips to keep her quiet. I lifted Lucy into my arms, she was rather light for a nine year old, I waved gently to Mrs. Macready, trying not to move Lu too much. I walked upstairs to my room, walking past Edmund, I frowned at him and shook my head, heading into my bedroom. I placed Lu down on one side of my bed gently, she was still sleeping soundly when I tucked her in.

I got in next to her, flinching as the floorboards creaked, I lay down beside her, pulling the covers over myself as well. I sighed thinking once more about Edmund, shook him out of my thoughts and turned to the candle next to Lu. I raised my hand and imagined the candle blowing out, watching in awe as it suddenly became dark. I grinned and relaxed. Lucy shifted to cuddle into me, I smiled, kissed her head and fell into a silent sleep, fully prepared to reprimand the three non-believers tomorrow.
