Agony & Sorrow Part I

Sitting on the toilet Sarah's bare legs shake with dread and anticipation. Her panties are coiled around her ankles mocking her. Blood staining the inside of them. Too early for that, she chides; but it isn't. Not this time. Just her period. Sarah knew it would be negative again; just like before. She just could feel it in her bones. But here she sits, urinating on what could be the 100th pregnancy test. Capping the test, she sets it on the edge of a beautiful white and marble top vanity. Her home is beautiful, clean, large, quiet and empty. Except for today.

Letting the minutes slip by she watches as her first morning urine wicks its way across the test window. There in one humiliating pink stripe, the answer. Negative. Setting the test down and taking a deep breath she begins cleaning herself up. This is her routine; she knows the motions and does not need to see through the welling of tears to get it done.
