Chapter 10

I wake up and look out the window to see Solo Night, Chico and Aggripine grazing in their pastures, their heads in the grass. It was a peaceful morning and I decided that I wanted to try riding a horse. I had watched Gorgie the other day. She made it look really easy. I went down stairs to go have breakfast. After that I went to go tell Uncle Phill that I wanted to go riding today. I walked into the stables to smell the familiar smell of horses. It was so peaceful in the stables but only for that moment because next minute I here a girl yelling. "You never have time for me, your always with smelly horses. You know if you were a good boyfriend you would take me to the movies and bye me things." It was Megan.
"Well I guess this means I'm finally single. Said Thomas casually. I was shocked. Even though Megan seemed like a total cow, I thought Thomas still liked her even though I did not know why. The next thing I knew Megan was out of the stables in a huff. I walk into the stable Thomas was in and pretend I didn't here the fight. "Did you here all that?" He asked me. "Um... just the end bit. If you don't mind me asking, why were you dating Megan? She didn't treat you very well." I asked.
"One, because I was stupid and two, it was like a forced dating thing." He said. "Have you seen my uncle slash dad around? I'm not really sure what to call him." I say.
"Yeah that must be confusing. I think he went into town or something but he told me to take you on your first trail ride if you wanted to go." He says.
"Ok, but who will I ride." I asked.
"Well... um... maybe you could start on Cricket. She's a  grey, gelding beginners pony and seeing it's your first time she would be ya best choice. She is in stall six and her tack is labeled six as well. If you grab the tack I will be with you in a minute."I walk to the stall that has the number six on it. I open the Dutch door to see, not a grey horse but a white horse staring at me. I was confused. I went back over to Thomas. "Um... you said a grey horse didn't you." I say. "I did." He replies. "Well um... the horse isn't grey. It's white." I say.
"Oh yeah. Um... there is no such thing as a white horse. They are called a grey horse." He says.
I walk to the tack shed feeling stupid. I grab Cricket's tack and take it to her stall. Thomas is already there waiting and gives me a hand with tacking her up.
Thomas helps me up onto Cricket and then gets on Chico. He tells me to lightly squeeze the barrel of the horse so I do so and Cricket starts to walk. We start at this pace then we try a trot. "Are you sure you have never gone riding before because your position in the saddle is perfect. Your a natural just like your mother. She's a great hero of mine." He says.
I tense up as he starts to talk about my mother. "You... you knew my mother?" I asked with a wobbly voice.
"Yeah. I was five when she pasted away. She was like a mother to me because both my parent died when I was little. Your Uncle slash dad brought me up and I am really grateful for that." He says.
"So your fourteen then?" I ask.
"Um... yeah. Why?" He asked curiously.
"Ah, no reason." I tell him.
After a while of riding we start to head back to the house. Going out riding in the morning then coming back in the afternoon seemed to be something Thomas both enjoyed to do together. It had been three weeks since we had met and life was pretty great. One day Thomas said that we should go riding at dusk and then spend the night at a cool spot he had found. He was gone all morning. I guessed he was just making sure everything was ready but what made me suspicious was when I asked if Gorgie could come as well. "Well, I wanted to just spend time with you but she can come if she really wants." He says. I didn't end up asking Gorgie to come. It was three o'clock and we had tacked up Chico and Cricket. We had everything we needed in the bags on our backs. After that we set off.

Authors note:
So sorry I have not updated in a LONG time. I was just stressed with school work. BTW, Cricket is a real horse. She is my best friends and sorry I made a mistake, everywhere in the book where I put Cricket as a girl I don't mean to. Cricket is a boy. He is a grey horse.
I got so annoyed today when we were acting out pictures and everyone was saying it was a fricken white horse and I was just yelling at them that it was actually a grey horse.
Heads up: the next chapter is for those who like romance. Have fun reading it when it's uploaded. Don't forget to vote, comment and share.
