fallon xiao was like anyone else living in the greater los angeles area: a normal person waiting for their chance to become extraordinary. she had big dreams of becoming a musician, going on tours, and becoming extremely famous. of course, most days these dreams just felt like a meek overshot, but that was never enough to make her give up. she had a vision and no one would be getting in the way of that. after a particularly sour break up with one of the most popular guys in school, fallon learned some hard lessons. she knew there could no longer be any distractions. there could be no one getting in her way and deterring her from what she really wanted. paxton was never looking for a relationship, just the next person to make him a little less lonely for a dwindling amount of time. he had never thought of himself as a boyfriend, rather a pit stop. he was never looking for someone to call his girlfriend. however, once seated next to a girl during a second attempt at his facing history class, everything changed. the only problem would be figuring out how to care for each other when neither thought it would ever be a possibility.

adam banks: senior, varsity hockey star, and the most popular boy in school. a lot about eden had changed since their freshman year. the ducks, while humble in nature, had morphed into something unrecognizable. they went from freshman underdogs to varsity kings, and in all that they lost themselves. eliza tao: senior, theatre department president, and generally liked among the masses. one night, during a required viewing of eden's fall musical: little women (in which she played the lead), a few of the ducks begin to discuss the girl. before too long, adam's agreeing to something he never thought he would: a bet. if he can get eliza to get in bed with him, charlie will give him his first line center position on the ice. the deal was too hard to ignore. and so were his unlikely feelings for the girl her knew nothing about.

pacey jeong, named after the beloved dawson's creek character (much to her dismay), was a resident member of east high's theatre department. she was an officer at only a junior level, and was involved in every show possible. so no one was as surprised as she to see a new face. especially when that face was ricky bowen. they had shared a class over the last few years of high school, and feeling like she knew him at least a little, she was shocked to hear that he was auditioning for high school musical. until his true intentions were revealed: he wanted to get back with his ex. at least, he thought he did. until pacey became the only thing he could think of. from there on, it was a complete mess.

jordan zheng never believed in ghosts. she considered herself a woman of science and never thought anything would change her mind. until she stumbles upon the unexplainable. all she wanted to do was practice a monologue in julie's studio, but fate had other ideas for her. when three boys appear out of thin air right in front of the girls, she's obviously perplexed. but luke is just as confused as the poor girl. because she looks exactly like an old flame of his. and not only that, but she can both see and touch him. something no living person can do (other than julie, and even she can't touch them). it's clear they have some sort of connection. and if jordan would choose to acknowledge his existence, maybe they could figure it out together.

lacey tran: the miracle on ice. or, as gordon bombay liked to call her, 'the best of the worst'. she only joined the peewee hockey team in order to get close to a certain curly headed blonde boy, who needn't be mentioned. but when bombay shows up, he sees some potential in her. he knows she could be one of the greats, but she's simply not interested in learning. the only thing she wants to learn is how to make a boy fall in love with you. she hasn't quite figured out the logistics of that one, yet. but she's trying. boy, is she trying. and the only one who can't seem to notice her blatant, and sometimes less blatant, affection, is the object of it.[d1-d3]

sawyer nguyen: eden hall's one and only female varsity player. she had skipped the sixth grade, making her a sophomore at the age of a freshman. this was her second year on varsity, and she had learned that if she just kept her head down, she could avoid the trouble. she hated their attitudes and their superiority complex, but she didn't have a choice when it came to being on the team. she was on scholarship, and if she wasn't on varsity, she would lose everything she had been working for. but, when adam banks comes along, she thinks maybe this year won't be so bad. with another person her age on the team, with similar morals, it might just be the change she's been looking for. adam hated that he had been put on varsity, but he knew his dad would kill him if he passed up this opportunity. and when he met sawyer, his whole attitude towards the team changed. it was still pretty bad, but she might just be the silver lining he was looking for.

[currently on hold]danica chen remembers the ducks fondly. they were a huge part of her life for a long time. she was there before they even got the name 'ducks'. back when it was just a team of kids with magazines as knee pads, who went by 'district five'. but after their winning season with gordon bombay, she was promptly moved to new york to live with her father, after accepting a broadway role in the secret garden. she was left with only memories of her old friends, and continued to play hockey in whatever free time she had left, getting better and better each year. still, she wasn't expecting to get an invitation to join team usa, and get the chance to play with her former duckies. she's ecstatic about the whole thing, especially after she realizes she might just rekindle an old flame with the one and only, charlie conway.
